Wong is currently a columnist with the Globe & Mail. In this
book, she tells of the years that she spent in China, from her
first trip as a university student to her later experiences as a
journalist . Wong has a unique viewpoint on China as a reporter,
Chinese person, and former Maoist. She is extremely frank, and
willing to point out her own mistakes, as well as those of others
that she has met. The best part of the book is her first-hand
account of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.
