Alex Haley's 'Roots' has tapped an authentic, widespread and seething reservoir of social passion because of an in-depth political core, solid justification of capitalism, and some heart-warming characterizatons. Roots unifies all audiences from Ontario to Gambia.

I read this book over 10 years ago and nothing I've read since has left such an impact on me. This book will make you laugh and cry as you follow the story of a family through each generation. Truly an amazing book.

This book falls into the "can't put it down" category. From the minute I started to the minute I turned the last page, Roots had me captivated. If you are a lover of african-american history, then Roots is a must read, for the journey which the characters go through will make you laugh, cry, and wonder in amazement. It was a book I will always remember, and will read again and again.
