    new age nonsense

The central message of this book is that there is an 'earth force' we can all tap into and gain incredible power. Most of this book is in direct opposition to the main world religions. For example, one theme in the book is personal power - that if we only knew the power we had, we would worship ourselves everyday (pg 71). Personal power is something many people like to believe in, yet it doesn't really exist. Next time you are lying flat on your back for days with a bout of the flu, consider how much 'personal power' you have. And what about during a hurricane or earthquake? We are utterly helpless in many areas of our lives. Most world religions believe in one power - God's. He gives power to His children.
Another similar theme in the book is that we control our own destiny's. Really? Do people who spend years or even decades in prison for a crime they didn't commit - do they really control their own destiny? What about those shipped off to concentration camps? Or the mentally disabled, or the million or so homeless children in South America, who are left in the street - are starved, raped, beaten and killed like vermin - do they control their own destiny too? Or those sold into slavery by their own parents, or victims of genocide... Again, the bible teaches that our lives are in God's hands. This doesn't make us helpless - it makes us reliant on God.
Another theme of the book - we should all live our own truth, on our own terms. Well, if your truth is right, and my truth is right etc.. then nothing is wrong. I don't share the 'truth' of the Klu Klux Klan and am glad that they can't live life on their own terms, aren't you? The brain is an organ made of flesh, prone to error, clouded by emotion, bias and past experience. One out of 4 people have a mental illness. Should we really all be living our own truth? The Christian faith teaches one truth - God's.. and this is unchanging, whether your brain or mine is working or not.
The author states that our highest calling is self awareness, and gaining self knowledge - our highest calling? How sad.

Perhaps if the 'negative' commenter had the knowledge that our earth force and our personal power is from God then it would make more sense to them. And so are you also saying that all the bad situations people are in are because of God? God has no mercy? Before you can believe in anyThing, you have to believe in yourself; you are not powerless if you were created from God and you are not His puppet.

Fair point but you're not seeing beyond that. We all are born with destiny that shapes our larger picture..born with AIDS, in a poor family..son of a rich man..and so on. With in that destiny, we have 'free will' of how we conduct our selves or evolve. There were people who became an inspiration while they were in concentration camps and saved others in tsunami when their own were dead. Most people who do great things are born in adversity. Oprah was raped and pregnant at 13 and then she became oprah. Abolishing the klan was result of someone else's personal power. And. Living your own truth does not mean forcing others to abondon theirs which is what KKK did.

    Will Change Your Life!

I have recently began my own life journey. I have become a voracious reader and have been reading such titles as Think and Grow Rich, The Wealthy Barber and How to Win Friends and Influence People. While I would still recommend any of the above books to other readers, if I had to only recommend one it would without a doubt be The Saint, The Surfer and the CEO. This is a life changing book that is also a fantastic read. If you want to live a happier life, have better relationships, set higher goals for yourself than pick up this book. You owe it to yourself to live your best possible life and this book will show you how. I have already purchased 10 extra copies to hand out to friends and family. That is how much this book has meant to my life and I know it will mean the same to yours. Best wishes to all who read this book.
