I really enjoyed this novel, it's the first i've read of James Patterson and surely won't be the last. I read this book in one sitting couldn't let it go, just wanted to know what happend. I usely don't like romancy novels but this one kept me wanting more, I love the way he writes, easy to understand but keeps your attention. It was a very cute novel and makes you see that nothing is always as it seems, and people do hide secrets and their emotions from others. I hate how everything always finished happy, life is not life this, life is unpredictable. But it's one of the good books i've read in a while :)

Jennifer's experienced a lot of loss in her life. Most recently, her husband passed away in a surfing accident while waiting for Jennifer to finish work and join him on vacation. When Jennifer gets a call that her grandmother Sam is in a coma, Jennifer doesn't know how much more she can take. She drives to Lake Geneva to be by her grandmother's bedside at the hospital, living in her house waiting for Sam to get better. Jennifer finds a stack of letters from Sam saying that her life isn't what everyone thought it was. Turns out that Sam had a horrible marriage and a secret lover. As Jennifer learns about her grandmother's past, she meets Brendon who is also staying at Lake Geneva for the summer. Can Sam's letters help Jennifer move past her heartache? Will Sam recover and come out of a coma? This is a simple but pleasing read and a good one for the summer. This is completely different from James Patterson's normal novels. I almost felt like his wife helped him out with the romance of the novel because the overall tone was quite feminine. Overall, an average book.

A sweet book, but a little sappy and predictable. Although it's nice for things to end happily ever after, life's not always like that. I'm not a cynic, just a realist. A little too soap opera for my tastes, but okay if you just want to read a romance. Not a bad effort from a guy who usually writes thrillers.

I really liked this book. It's about a grandmother who leave a stack of letters for her granddaughter to read. In the letters she reveals what she has done in the past and why. While visting her grandmother in the hospital Jennifer meets up with an old childhood friend ....... If you like Suzanne's diary for Nicholas this book is the same type of read .Pick it up it's a nice story ....

This has to be one of the easiest adult fiction books i've read. The storey was great and truly enjoyable !

This book had me from the first page! I took it Mexico to read on the beach and couldn't have picked a better book! I couldn't wait to get back to it everyday and pick up where I had left off! This love story is happy and sad, touching and compelling. It made me want to read everything by James Patterson.

This book was wonderful. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than 3 hours. It is a beautiful story of heartbreak, loss, and hope. If you have ever known what it's like to love someone so much it hurts, this book will touch your soul. I promise it will not disapoint.

An absolute must read. Amazingly moving and real. If you've ever known what it's like to love, this book with touch your heart. I could read it over and over again and bawl my eyes out every time. I promise you won't be able to put it down!

This is an easy read. And if you like to cry this is the book for you. It's the story of a thirty-something woman who is trying to break through her grief of the death of her husband and miscarriage of her unborn chid when the telephone rings and her grandmother-the perfect is in the hospital in a coma. Up to this point the book is well done. But when a she renews the acquaintance of an old summer playmate it's touch with reality is over. Romance novels don't have as many I love you's , You're beautiful and kiss me again. as these characters utter again and agin. Death is worried over selectively. Please don't let the cat die but not one word of remembrance for her dead parents. Jennifer is allowed to worry over her comatose grandmother but her aunt and cousins never show up. An argument would have given the characters at least some deminsion. Or give the romance at least some context. Rehabilitation of cancer and stroke patients is no walk in the park. This novel makes the choices seem black and white when anyone who has lives through it knows it gray and exhausting. But if you like your story's sugar coated and your characters clich'ed, read on.
