This book profiles the history of the development of various furniture styles, exploring the evolution of style in the context of the architectural setting, interior design, and decorative arts of each period. It presents a complete timeline—correlating political and cultural events to the development of furniture, architecture, and artistic movements—and considers the social, political, and economic factors that influence design trends and individual taste.
