Shopaholic & Baby

by Sophie Kinsella

Random House Publishing Group | December 26, 2007 | Trade Paperback

With over eight million copies of her beloved books in print, Sophie Kinsella is a true phenomenon. Now Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) is back, in a hilarious new Shopaholic novel!

Becky's life is blooming! She's working at London's newest big store, The Look, house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is a Shoe Room)...and she's pregnant! She couldn't be more overjoyed-especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery…to the latest, coolest pram…to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be Luke's glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble. She's shopping for two…but are there three in her marriage?

    Easy reading; Fun.

The fifth book in this fun series by Sophie Kinsella is almost more fun than the others because who ever thought about how fun baby shopping could be? With all the excitement of a baby on the way and possibly a new home, Becky Brandon shops more and lands in more hilarious trouble as she tries to help her company thrive and keep her marriage together. No shortage of laughs in this one either.

I love this series. This book is one of my favourites as Becky has her doubts all the way through the novels about Luke loving her and at one point you actually think something bad is happening, and for good reason! But Becky's naive concepts about life and the real world always makes me laugh.

When I started reading this, I thought it was going to be as bad as the previous book but half way through, the book turned a bit better and little more entertaining. The book was not as funny as the first two and i think she should have ended the series when Becky got married. it had it's funny moments and times when you're just thinking "take that b**ch"...overall, first half was boring, second half was a bit funny.

By far I found this installment in the Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) series to be the most suspenseful yet. I found I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next and find out if the truth would be revealed. If you are a fan of the series you will not be disappointed by this installment in the series.

There were so many moments in the beginning of this book which actually had me laughing out loud with the wittiness of the characters. And although I love the shopaholic series, this book being the fifth one, I must say it has become very predictable for endings.

this book had me in wayyy too much suspense. i cheated a little and asked my friend who had already read the book if i'd be able to forgive luke @ the end and stil like him. LOL. she gave me an answer but i'm not going to share it. this book is TOTALLY worth the read. i recommend you read the book & find out if luke's really as great a husband as he seems.

I think "& Baby" would have to be in my top three out of the Shopaholic series (1. Shopaholic, 2. Ties The Knot). I couldn't put it down - especially when the real drama hits!

A real page turner! You can't help but laugh.

Becky now has to deal with being pregnant and going shopping..Hmm..how's she gonna pull this one off? Then when she gets the must have Celeb Doctor, life just tumbles down from there. Very heartwarming and funny. I enjoyed it.

I read Something Borrowed and Something Blue (which were both excellent by the way) and this one was just the icing on the cake! I lent it to my friend who was expecting, and she LOVED it - returned it back to me in a week! She couldn't put it down.
    I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!!

Being a new mom, and a shopaholic myself, I was very excited to hear about this book. I really enjoyed other books in the Shopaholic series (Confessions of..., ...Ties the Knot, ...Takes Manhattan), but this one was quite disappointing. It was an easy read, and somewhat entertaining at times, but it just didn't make me laugh like the others. Overall it was too repititive (shop, fret about relationship, shop, fret about relationship...), and corny.

Sophie Kinsella delights readers again with Shopaholic and Baby. I found it to be just as hilarious as her other Shopaholic books. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a funny, light read.

Well, Shopaholic & Baby was as great a read as I expected! I read it in one sitting because I couldn't wait to find out how Becky was going to inadvertently save the day this time. Besides, I love living vicariously through her shopping sprees. It saves me the trouble of taking out my own loads of plastic to charge the day away. Can't wait for the next book and Becky's crazy adventures!

    Shopoholic & Baby is great!!!

Sophie Kinsella has a wonderful way of making her readers laugh and want to shop! :) The other books from the Shopaholic series are fabulous and this one is no different. I couldn't put it down.
