This was a good tie-in to "Eclipse".

Clearly you can tell from the title, the story is writing about Bree's life. It is writing in her point of view, about her time as a vampire.

You learn that even being a vampire, it isn't necessarily good to live among other new born vampires. Some are too temperamental and egotistical. They have no problem hurting their own kind.

You'll read about why Riley really wanted to make a coven of vampires. What lies he told to get these new born vampires to look up to him as their leader, and being willing to fight in a vampire war for him.

The Volturi are even in it. I think you kinda see a whole other little evil side to the Volturi, probably more specifically Jane.

I quite liked it. It was interesting, and it made me see things I didn't think about in Eclipse. Actually, I think I like reading about Bree more than I do Bella.

In the introduction to this novella, Meyer writes to her fans, hoping that they will end up caring for Bree Tanner as much as she does. We do and I don't think that it can be helped. In Eclipse, Bree is a mere mention at the end of an epic tale and yet, I wanted to know more about her. Now that I do, I find that she is intelligent, insightful, compassionate, and loyal and I wish that she had indeed been included into the Cullen coven.
Meyer takes a flat character, of little consequence, and gives her an incredible (second) life, with an incredible story. Furthermore, by telling the story of Eclipse from Bree's perspective, she also provides further insight into characters that we already know, love and/or hate. More than that, she introduces new characters, like Diego and Fred, who are spectacular in their own right and deserve their own stories! Any fan of the Twilight series will enjoy this short read.

I loved this short story. Stephenie Meyer could write a similar novella about nearly every character she has introduced. Wouldn't you love to hear more details about Dr Cullen, Rosalie and especially Jasper's background. The possibilities are endless! Some haters like to say that Meyer's writing is terrible, but any author who can make me disappear into another world is talented in my books.

I have to say, I wasn't overly excited when I found out about this novella, and adding it to the library wasn't a priority, but I happened across it at a second hand store and since I have the rest in the series, I picked it up.

Let me first say that it is not up to standard for me. Meyer for all her flaws, usually paints a vivid picture with her stories, but I felt that in trying to keep it short and sweet, most of these characters come off 2 dimensional, and the storyline felt rushed, I was really intrigued with the vampire Fred, and genuinely would like to know more of his story, but that's pointless, since she has made it perfectly clear, that she is finished with this series.

All in all, it was kind of interesting to see what was going down in Seattle with the newborns, but what the fans of Twilight really want is Midnight Sun, not some second rate backstory about a mostly insignificant character.

I find this book to be a very good addition to the Twilight Saga. It helps understand why the Cullens are unable to associate the deaths in Seattle with Victoria in the beginning. It is also a good insight on how new borns live and act, especially in nests. It is a very well written book as all of Stephenie Meyer's books are. In hopes of reading her published version of Midnight Sun soon and more from this talented author.

Have read the book twice and really enjoyed. Meyer was very smart making a book about Bree, a character from Eclipse the intrigued me and I am sure other readers. Was interesting seeing the story from a different perspective. Cant see it is a literary masterpiece (dont think that was her plan) but a good read. Was able to get through very quickly and wanted a bit more. Bree, in the short book, was able to capture my imagination and developed quite well. Found some of the other characters nothing special but overall really enjoyed the book.

Bree is a smart character to the Twilight series... As the author mentions, too bad she didn't stay longer; she would have made an amazing addition to the coven.

I would have preferred if the book was divided in chapters rather than a continuous story. It didn't make me stop and think about the in between plots. It's kind of like devouring a cake and not realizing the details of the cake.

Other than that, the story is well written and it's a good addition to the twilight series.

    I Want More Bree!

This book left me wanting more of Bree Tanner! The way she saw things, through thirsty, red eyes that didn't know any other way of vampire life, was unique and a nice change from the "good" vampires we are used to with the Twilight series.

The great thing about this book is that you don't need to have read any of the other Twilight books to understand what is going on. I really enjoyed the personalities that Bree meets in her short, second life.

This book makes you wonder; "What would've happened if the Volturi spared Bree's life?" A great read that Twilight fans will enjoy.

This little book was a great read for me. It takes place in the Eclipse book of the Twilight saga written by the same author Stephenie Meyer. I found it to be a great read because; it takes you through the the eyes of a totally new character, and gives you a whole new perspective on the book Eclipse. This little book, as I read it made me want to cheer for Bree and her new life as a newbron vampire. I found this book one night at Wal-mart and read bit of it and decided to get it. I was hook. If you are a big fan of the Twilight saga like I am, I think you will love this book as I did. It was another great book by Stephenie.

Bree Tanner is a minor character, a "newbie" vampire, who is part of Victoria's army in the third book of the Twilight series, Eclipse. Bree was only 15 or 16 when she was turned and she had been a vampire for 3 months when the story starts. She is a little smarter than some of the other newbies, and along with Diego, another one of the army, they are trying to figure out what is going on. Their leader, Riley, seems to be keeping things from them.

I quite liked it. Some of the reviews I've seen have said it's all stuff we've read. I didn't think so (although it has been quite a while since I read Eclipse), certainly not the first half of it, which focused more on Bree and Diego and their growing friendship. The last bit of the book - the fight - was a little more of what we have already read, but of course, it's from Bree's viewpoint, as she tries to figure out exactly what's happening.

This novella is the short memoire-like story of newborn vampire Bree Tanner who was first introduced in Eclipse.
Now a three-month-old vampire, this 15 year old former runaway (who was created solely for the army to fight the Cullens) lives a precarious existence trying not to draw attention to herself while attempting to survive among the irrational newborns in her coven. Bree's humanity, fighting spirit and ability to think for herself in the face of madness really makes her character lovable and although the ending was inevitable, I couldn't help but wish a different fate for her.

WOW! This book is really good. I am a big fan of Stephenie Meyer! She is such a great writer. I love how she wrote about Bree's life after she became a vampire. It was really cool to know what she went through.

I'm a big fan of author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga and devoured all four books in that series with distinct pleasure, raving about them to those who would listen. When I heard that Meyer had released an Eclipse novella called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, I knew I wanted to read it. While the Twilight Saga is definitely a literary phenomenon, this short story about the minor character of newborn vampire Bree Tanner, seems superfluous at best. I barely remembered Bree from Eclipse and probably would have forgotten her altogether if I hadn't just seen the movie Eclipse a couple of weeks ago. I suspect that it's no coincidence that Bree's novella was released last month, just before the theatrical release of Eclipse, particularly since Meyer allowed director David Slade and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and a few of the actors to read a draft of the novella during the production of the movie.

I read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner in one sitting and while I enjoyed the story and thought it was fun to take a closer look at this character as well as the characters of Riley, Diego and Freaky Fred, I don't feel that it's a must read for Twilight fans. They won't gain much insight into the series by reading this novella and this is not a romantic novel by any stretch of the imagination.

In The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner we are privy to Bree's experience as a newborn and the suspense that builds amongst all of Victoria's secret newborn army as they prepare to attack Bella Swan and the Cullens. Victoria, herself, is alluded to in this novella but only mentioned by name once and the Volturi have only a shadowy presence as well. We know 15-year-old Bree's fate at the beginning of the book, so there are absolutely no surprises within it.

"As part of the larger publishing release, one dollar from each physical book sold will be donated to the American Red Cross," so that may be reason enough to buy it, and at a retail price of CDN$16.99, it's affordable. However, if you're a Twilight fan who is pinching her pennies, don't bother with the Bree Tanner novella because you're not missing out on much.

Finally Got To See Through A Vampire's Eyes

    {Warning: If you hadn't read the Twilight Saga, then I wouldn't read this review because there are some spoilers in it}

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner was an interesting twist in the Twilight Saga. Although it wasn't part of the series, it was still a wonderful way to see through Bree's eyes, as a newborn vampire who was a character in Eclipse which was my favorite book in the saga. I was very happy to find out that Stephenie Meyer was writing a new book! And it was truly a great read, just like the Twilight books.

Bree Tanner, a fifteen year old girl, she had a devestating life because of her father. But that changes when she meets Riley. Golden blonde hair and the palest skin you will ever see. Although she couldn't really see his eyes because of his sunglasses he wore to cover them up, she thought he was the most beautiful person she's ever met. That was before he bites her. Now Bree is a newborn vampire, red rose eyes, and pale skin. She's part of Riley's coven with a bunch of other stupid vampires. Beautiful, but stupid. Bree is usually the quiet girl, she's never really been noticed in the coven, because she usually hides behind a vampire known as 'Freaky Fred' who is also unnoticed.

One night, when Bree was hunting she got to know Deigo better. Deigo is also a newborn vampire part of Riley's coven. But the difference about Diego and all the other vampires is that he's actually smart. Riley is very fond of Diego, he thinks that he's the best in the group and is a close friend with him as well. Bree and Deigo become great friends, they even have some secret club that they've created as BFF's. They even discovered that the legend of 'Vampires burning in the sunlight' is a total myth, because they sparkle and glitter in sunlight.

No one really knows who created Riley, and he never mentions it to anyone. All they know is that its a 'she'. They soon discover that they must have a battle with the 'yellow eyed vampires' (aka the Cullens) because 'she' wants them destroyed. But it's not easy because the yellow eyes, have powers. A mindreader, a Psychic, and a vampire who conrtols your feelings. Riley is telling the coven that it'll be easy if they all work together as one group. Think again Riley. During the battle, we all know that no one really survives. Except for Bree, but once the Volturi arrives to discuss the situation, it comes to end where Bree doesn't get a second chance, and the story ends there.

In my opinion, I thought this book was a real twist in the Saga. It was great to see through Bree's eyes and how she felt about the issue she was placed in. It was sad to read about how she died in Eclipse and in this novella. But there was some romance and also a really great battle. I hope to see more of Stephenie Meyer's books in the future!
