This was a good tie-in to "Eclipse".

Clearly you can tell from the title, the story is writing about Bree's life. It is writing in her point of view, about her time as a vampire.

You learn that even being a vampire, it isn't necessarily good to live among other new born vampires. Some are too temperamental and egotistical. They have no problem hurting their own kind.

You'll read about why Riley really wanted to make a coven of vampires. What lies he told to get these new born vampires to look up to him as their leader, and being willing to fight in a vampire war for him.

The Volturi are even in it. I think you kinda see a whole other little evil side to the Volturi, probably more specifically Jane.

I quite liked it. It was interesting, and it made me see things I didn't think about in Eclipse. Actually, I think I like reading about Bree more than I do Bella.

    Short but Sweet

In the introduction to this novella, Meyer writes to her fans, hoping that they will end up caring for Bree Tanner as much as she does. We do and I don't think that it can be helped. In Eclipse, Bree is a mere mention at the end of an epic tale and yet, I wanted to know more about her. Now that I do, I find that she is intelligent, insightful, compassionate, and loyal and I wish that she had indeed been included into the Cullen coven.
Meyer takes a flat character, of little consequence, and gives her an incredible (second) life, with an incredible story. Furthermore, by telling the story of Eclipse from Bree's perspective, she also provides further insight into characters that we already know, love and/or hate. More than that, she introduces new characters, like Diego and Fred, who are spectacular in their own right and deserve their own stories! Any fan of the Twilight series will enjoy this short read.

    An ok companion to Eclipse

I have to say, I wasn't overly excited when I found out about this novella, and adding it to the library wasn't a priority, but I happened across it at a second hand store and since I have the rest in the series, I picked it up.

Let me first say that it is not up to standard for me. Meyer for all her flaws, usually paints a vivid picture with her stories, but I felt that in trying to keep it short and sweet, most of these characters come off 2 dimensional, and the storyline felt rushed, I was really intrigued with the vampire Fred, and genuinely would like to know more of his story, but that's pointless, since she has made it perfectly clear, that she is finished with this series.

All in all, it was kind of interesting to see what was going down in Seattle with the newborns, but what the fans of Twilight really want is Midnight Sun, not some second rate backstory about a mostly insignificant character.
