From the Publisher

Former cabin boy Matt Cruse, now a student at the prestigious Airship Academy, is first to identify the Hyperion, the private airship of a reclusive and fabulously wealthy inventor that disappeared forty years ago with its owner. Armed with the Hyperion''s coordinates, which only he possesses, Matt, heiress Kate de Vries, and a mysterious young gypsy board the Sagarmatha, an airship fitted with the new skybreaker engines that will allow them to reach the Hyperion, 20,000 feet above the earth''s surface. Pursued by others who want the Hyperion and will stop at nothing to get it, and surrounded by dangerous high-altitude life forms, Matt and his companions are soon fighting not only for the Hyperion but for their very lives.

In this thrilling sequel to Airborn, a Michael L. Printz Honor Book, Kenneth Oppel evokes the classic storytelling of Robert Louis Stevenson and Jules Verne, creating a world in which a new discovery can have unimagined consequences -- on earth and miles above it.

    Excellent 5

This review is from: Skybreaker (Hardcover)

I first read this book a few years ago, reading it now I realize it is even better than I remembered it being! I loved the characters, the plot and the setting. What more could you ask for?! Kenneth Oppel has written another extraordinary masterpiece! Matt Cruise and Kate DeVries are back and this time there after the treasure on the legendary 'ghost' ship "Hyperion" and all sorts of complications arise after it is publicaly known that Matt is the only person in the world who has the… read more

Even Better Than the First (Airborn) 5

This review is from: Skybreaker (Trade Paperback)

Matt and Kate hire an airship to help them find the legendary lost ship the Hyperion. Along with them on the journey are a crew of Sherpas, a debonair captain with designs on Kate, her prim chaperon and a feisty gypsy girl. They encounter all sorts of dangers as they fly into the uncharted heights of the sky. I think I enjoyed Skybreaker even more than the first in this series, Airborn. Even though this series is classified as Fantasy, this volume definitely breaks into the science fiction… read more

    Even better than Airborn... 5

This review is from: SKYBREAKER (Mass Market Paperbound)

When I read 'Airborn', I LOVED it. This book is even better if that is possible. Since ground work for the characters and their world is well laid in 'Airborn', Kenneth Oppel wastes no time catching the read up to par in this page turner! The adventure takes off immediately, soaring till the end, leaving the reader to catch his breath. Congratulation to Kenneth Oppel for creating such a wonderful series! Packed with adventure, yet well ground and full-fleshed out characters, his awards are well… read more

This book was a great sequel to Airborn, I found it was better too. The plot was much more fun to read and understand. The characters were great, always loving or hating the personalities, great description. Another must read.

This book is one of the most awesome books I have read. The concept of the entire setting, problem etc, is too good. This book is way better than the first, "Airborn". I recommend this to anyone who needs a good quick read, that is full of adventure, passion, courage, adrenaline and suspicion . I LOVED this book.

    What will happen next!?? 5

I read this book in one day! It was so exciting and amazing. It really keeps you at the edge of your seat. But I want to know what happens next to Matt & Kate. And the other girl. This is a good book for guys or girls. And for people who aren't scared of heights.

    Good Book! 4

This review is from: SKYBREAKER (Mass Market Paperbound)

SkyBreaker was a good book. I loved the part when they were going too high. I like that part because I never knew that you could die if you went too high in a plane. Therefore I learned something. This book was the longest book I have ever read. It took me about 2 weeks to read it. I give this book 4 leafs out of 5 because the book had action but it sometimes got boring. I recommend this book to people that like reading airplane books (not an actual airplane though). I kept on visualizing… read more

    Fantastic! 5

This review is from: Skybreaker (Hardcover)

Skybreaker by Kenneth Oppel, is an exciting, action- packed novel for teens. Once you pick the book up, you can't put it back down. The book is based in the past, which makes it interesting. The characters and setting are very creative, and the plot is fantastic. Kenneth Oppel did a great job writing this thrilling sequel to Airborn. Also, Skybreaker won this year's Red Maple Award! A book has to be good to win an award. Skybreaker is great for those of you ages 12 to 18. This is a must… read more

    Spectacular 5

This review is from: Skybreaker (Hardcover)

This is definitely one of the best books I've read so far. For people that wouldn't normally enjoy teen fiction, this book is still for you. Suits a wide variety of readers and ages. This is also one of the rare stories that you can never put down, no matter how hard you try. Jam-packed in every paragraph about a 15 year-old boy. Matt Cruse's journey takes you to unimaginal places at 20,000 feet about airships and survival, but still manages to play up more romance than the… read more
