This story was a wonderful read and I am sure it will become a family favorite. It follows a mother as she expresses her hopes and dreams for what her daughter's life will entail. It is interesting - over the last year I have been working through reviewing all books illustrated by Peter H Reynolds, and this was an amazing read. The illustrations were wonderful; the lettering is part of the artwork with mixed pages of photos and text flowing across to the facing pages. The pallet was soft and full. The illustrations are incredible. The story is wonderful, and together McGhee and Reynolds have created a treasure that will be enjoyed by your family many times over.

I picked this up at a hospital counter. I just flipped quickly but stopped at the second last page. When I read that one and the last one, the tears just poured out. Funny how the cashier was waiting with the tissue in hand as every woman that ever picks it up, weeps and buys it! This is an amazing book that I am giving to my oldest daugther, now pregnant with her second child. It truly says it all in a beautiful way.

I do not think I would consider this book to be a children's book. It is a simple book with few words, but I believe it is for adults, for it will truly touch the heart of any mother who reads it. It is about a mother watching her daughter grow up and eventually her daughter becoming old with silver hair thinking of her mother. I may be wrong, but I think few children would be intrigued with this book, but definitely a good gift for mothers or for children to keep till they are older and able to appreciate it.

This is one of those children's books that it is really written more for the adult who is reading it. It is lovely book filled with sweet sentiments, talking about a mother's dreams of her child's future. Perfect as a gift from a mother to a child of any age...including teenagers and young adults!

Every parent should give this book to their child. It will have you in tears!
