by Jerramy Fine

GOTHAM BOOKS TRADE PAPER | February 3, 2009 | Trade Paperback

The charming story of a small-town girl who dreams of finding love with a real-life English prince?and who?s willing to go to hilarious lengths to make her fairy tale come true

Most young girls dream of becoming a princess. But unlike most girls, Jerramy Fine never grew out of it. Strangely drawn to the English royal family since she was a child, Jerramy spends her childhood writing love letters to Buckingham Palace and absorbing any information she can find on modern-day princesses throughout the world. Years later, when her sense of destiny finally brings her to London, Jerramy navigates the murky waters of English social circles, etiquette, and dating with hilarious results.

In fact, I've read it twice so far, and I imagine I will read it periodically when my spirits need a lift. I discovered this book quite by accident and am so glad that I did. If you love England (particularly London), or have a fascination with royalty, you must read this book. But even if you don't, the author (really, the main character, given this is a memoir -- but it reads like a zany chicklit novel) is very appealing and writes extremely well, which makes for a very winning combination. Really, you can't lose. If you think you'd like a combination of Helen Fielding, Jane Austen and Jilly Cooper (three of my favourite observers of English life), get this. It will be perfect to read over the holidays or while on vacation.

    LOVED IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely loved the book. Great read for young women with aspiring dreams. Definitely explains a lot of what young women go through today . I was able to relate in many ways. This book inspires me to go for my dreams regardless of what obstacles may jump in my way. The boy drama and heart ache expressed by Jerramy is something all girls experience, but her strength to keep her dreams first and keep going, knowing that she will one day find her prince, is very encouraging and motivational. "Happiness always finds us when we follow our dreams."

Jerramy Fine's voice is immediately charming. Her memoir is entertaining, sincere and at times, hilariously funny. This book makes you remember what it felt like to watch Disney movies as a child; did they have such a profound effect on the rest of us? Fine's quest to marry her Prince Charming makes us laugh and creates tension, but most importantly, it makes us root for the underdog. We want her to succeed in her royal quest and find happiness in her own life. "Someday..." is a light read, but very enjoyable and Jerramy Fine seems like a fascinating person who I'd like to meet.
