Sophie is a girl who worries about everything. She worries about
school, she worries about thunderstorms and she worries that the
moon will fall out of the sky and onto her head. She is especially
worried that there is a monster under her bed. When she finally
gets up the courage to look, she is shocked to find a dancing,
singing, sock-eating sea monster. But there is a twist - he isn't
scary at all. In fact, he worries more than she does!
At first, the sea monster is so afraid he doesn't want to come out
from under the bed. Sophie eventually drags the monster outside and
takes him on some adventures to try and help him face his fears.
They pet snakes at the zoo and try kidney beans for the first time.
Sophie ends up having so much fun with her sea monster friend that
she forgets about being afraid.
At 30 pages, this picture book is perfect for young readers. The
font is large and the words are simple and easy to understand. The
sea monster's rhyming songs are hilarious and the artwork is bright
and colourful. This is a great story about facing your fears and
making new friends.
