I have recently re-taught myself how to knit and purchased this book as a basic stitch guide. I got so much more than just a how-to book! This book is hip! It is cool! It is a great read and a wonderful stitch guide with projects for every level. From scarves to cable sweaters, this is a must for all those who wish to create with sticks and wool!

Excellent beginner's guide...

My mother recently re-taught me the basic knitting stitch, so I decided to pick up The Knitter's Handbook to guide me through everything else. I'm amazed at how much information is in this book...in a couple of hours I taught myself how to cast on, purl, bind off and do a few other nifty tricks. There's an abundance of info on tools, the history of the craft, tips of the trade and enough funky patterns to get you well on the way to becoming a knitter. A must have for ALL knitters!!

This book is comprehensive yet fun!! It covers all the knitting basics & then some & then throws in some funky projects for you to make. I am very impressed by the pictures, basic instructions & information about needle gauge & direction on how to correct those unavoidable knitting mistakes we all make from time to time. I would definitely reccommend this book to any fellow knitter for its wit, charm & simplicity.
