    A nice anthology

(The Chapters-Indigo website has been deleting my ratings so: I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars/leaves.)

I enjoyed this one. Despite the almost inevitable fact that some stories will be better than others in an anthology such as this, I can at least say that all the stories in this particular anthology were quite good.

My least favorite was the story by Patricia Briggs (whom I usually like!): I had read 'Hunting Ground' (a novel which features these characters while focusing on the characters of Anna and Charles) previously. I can't speak as to whether or not this was a factor in my impression of this story, but somehow I didn't find it to be as gripping as some of the others and I didn't care for it as much as I have for some of her novels.

As a side note, one of the other stories was a prequel to the novel 'Skinwalker' by Faith Hunter (i.e. the first novel in the Jane Yellowrock series).

Similar recommended titles (given here because of the weird problems I've been having with the Chapters/Indigo website and which they STILL haven't fixed):

-Cry Wolf (and the prequel story in the collection by different authors titled 'On the Prowl'), by Patricia Briggs
    -Stormwalker, by Allyson James
    -Dragon Bound, by Thea Harrison
-The Shadow Reader, by Sandy Williams
-The Demon In Me, by Michelle Rowen
    -Angels' Blood, by Nalini Singh

Yep you read it right. Time for the side kicks to shine. Several of the stories in this anthology portray minor characters staring in their own stories. Not all of the stories of course. Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden solves a beer related mystery.

Patricia Briggs pops out a story in her mercy thompson universe without any connective characters.

Faith hunter submits a prequel of sorts to her skinwalker novel.

P.N Elrod brings back her 1920-30s vamp detective. (I confess I skipped most of this one)

It's difficult to rate anthologies. 1 story may be from an author you know and be great. While the others are unknown, who are unknowns becuase of their lackluster writing. I'd say most of the stories in this book are pretty good, so i'd say I really like it.
