Something happened while I was reading this book. You see, I
started off really liking Georgina. I enjoyed her a lot in the
first book, but that really changed with this one. By the end of
Succubus on top I had a real big problem with Georgina. I don't
know if it's the fact that she smokes drugs, or is a habitual
cheater, but I don't like her anymore.
I'll tell you what I mean about the cheating. Before she became a
Succubus she cheated on her husband. Thats why she became an
immortal. Her actions put her husband into such a depression that
he nearly killed himself. In order to save him any more pain, she
sold her soul. In return for wiping her memory away from her
husband, she would become a Succubus. Cheating on her husband is
something she showed a lot of regret for in the first book. So, why
did she cheat on Seth?!?! It's understood that she must sleep with
mortals in order to survive, however, when she slept with one of
her immortal friends it was NOT to compete her Succubus duties.
I'm trying to remember that even though Succubus on top is sold in
the romance section, it is not a romance. Otherwise this book would
be a big fat F for the cheating alone.
All of the players from Succubus Blues are this book, and that made
me happy. I liked all the secondary characters, and I'd like to see
them again in future books.
I'm going to give Succubus on top a C+. Getting past my issues with
pot smoker/cheater Georgina, I did like the story. It wasn't as
interesting as the first book, but it did have some mystery to it.
The take down of an immortal bad guy, as well as helping an Incubus
to take down a righteous annoying mortal.
I look forward to seeing what happens with the relationship between
Georgina and Seth. Personally, I think he is too good for her.
