When people see the term 'White Trash' they immediately conjure up a very stereotypical image of a moldy aluminum trailer, a young uneducated irresponsible mother that depends on a quick succession of boyfriends to live, and whom runs from every money problem under the sun. Sadly, Leah Jones lives that exact reality from one trailer park to another as her mother perpetually gambles away their lives one pawned TV at a time. Having grown up in such an environment, Leah has been left to fend for herself; rationing food, wearing clothes threadbare and generally biding her time until that eviction notice arrived. But an unexpected benefit to living in trailer parks located next to airstrips was that a love of planes would develop and it drives Leah to one day seek out a job at the airport in her own backyard in Heaven Beach. The cover is what drew me to this book in the first place. Hair can be so expressive, and when you look at this cover you get that intense feeling of a rushing howl of wind at your back (like when riding a roller coaster). It just gives me shivers of excitement looking at it! In the beginning, the story is told by looking at snippets of the past and how Leah learns the skills that lands her in between Grayson and Alec in the present. Young Leah, while working at the airport she excels in the simple daily tasks while she soaks in all that she can about aviation. But just being around planes isn't enough, she's itching to fly in one. Saving up each penny that she can keep from her mother's grabby fingers, Leah convinces Mr. Hall to give her a flight lesson - and one lesson is all it takes to get her hooked. I was completely surprised by the complexity of Leah's character. At times she seems resigned to the stereotypes that come with living in a trailer park (namely that she's easy and poor) and sometimes wallows in it. Then there's times where she's this completely different girl that's strong, willful and has this insane drive to do the impossible. She wavers between the two, and I'm so glad that the other characters don't just let this slide, they call her out on it. Twins Grayson and Alec Hall couldn't be more different. Alec is super adorkable - he's just an all around sweet and nice guy. But it's the black sheep of the family, the reckless adrenaline junkie Grayson that captures and holds your attention. Looking at the Grayson from Leah's flashbacks and the present Grayson, there's a very visible divide between the two. Just when I thought I had Grayson figured out he'd surprise me equally with bouts of anger or random acts of kindness. On his road to emotional recovery, his decisions take him down a very dark path with a hidden agenda that made me blaze through this book because I couldn't stop asking why right along with Leah. Echols does an incredible job crafting her characters, no matter how brief they appear they all had such vivid personalities that I could connect with them instantly and they managed to stay in the back of my mind throughout the book. The romance aspect is completely believable. It's not instant love, there's lots of hardships and tests. I wouldn't say there's an obvious love triangle going on here, but Echols brings on some very mature situations which I loved seeing, because let's be honest here - it's not like teenagers aren't already doing these things why awkwardly dance around it? That being said, this is definitely for older YA readers, there are some scenes that I never would've expected to encounter. This is easily one of my favorite books of 2012. It's got death defying action, social class drama, family dysfunction, hilarious outbursts and really good looking fly boys. What more could you ask for? I'm so glad I bought this one because it's one of those feel good books I'd love to read again and again when I need an inspirational pick me up. Also I've never read anything by Jennifer Echols before, but I'll definitely be looking into her other works!

Jennifer Echols is one of my favourite YA contemporary authors and Such A Rush certainly didn't disappoint! The book was everything I hoped it would be and more. If you're looking for your latest romantic drama fix, Such A Rush is the perfect contemporary novel to choose next! With her mother always gone off with her latest boyfriends, Leah has lived a lonely life in various trailer parks across South Carolina over the years. Used to fending for herself, Leah's outlook on life has been toughened, making her wary of allowing anyone to ever get too close to her. At school, she's gained a reputation among the boys for being "easy", even if it's far from true, and all the girls hate her, with the exception of her best friend, Molly. However, even though she's afraid to voice it aloud, a part of Leah still believes Molly is only nice to her because she can be treated as a charity case. Ever since Leah moved to Heaven Beach three years ago though, she was given hope for a better future thanks to Mr. Hall, the only father-figure she's ever really had. Leah's dream of one day becoming an airline pilot means the world to her and her passion for flying is certainly infectious! She's watched Mr. Hall's boys from afar whenever they came to Hall Aviation, but when Mr. Hall suddenly dies, Grayson unexpectedly decides to take over the family business. For reasons he refuses to say, Grayson blackmails Leah into flying for him and to date his twin brother, Alec. It may seem like there's a love triangle, but there really isn't. Alec is charming and sweet, acting quite differently from his brother, but there's no question you'll be rooting for Grayson and Leah to be together from the start. Grayson is both infuriating and downright hot, with a magnetic personality and an energy that cannot be contained within the pages. There are times he'll make you swoon one moment and then want to throttle him the next, but I definitely fell hard for him in the end. Such A Rush is one of Jennifer Echols's best novels to date and I'll absolutely be reading it again and again in the future! The chemistry between Grayson and Leah is off the charts, and there's a certain tension present that leaves you holding your breath and wondering what will happen next. If you still haven't read a book written by Jennifer Echols, then you're truly missing out! Such A Rush was such a refreshing read!! I love Jennifer Echol's books because they show how love can come from different situations. This is one of her best books yet as it shows how Leah is a young girl with the love of flying ever since she was fourteen. It was is creative, funny, and sexy read that any teenager would enjoy! I cant describe how much I loved this book because it was a great read. Jennifer Echol's is one of my favorite authors who knows how to grab readers attention! I could not put this book down! BIG fan of Jennifer Echols! I loved Leah's character because she was one tough cookie who knows what she is doing and what she wants to do. She is very independent rather than her mother who very rarely appears in the novel. Leah lives in a trailer park, as well as following her mom around from one trailer to another, like her mother's boyfriends. Where it would leave us on the last stop, a local beach town where the local airport is right near the airport, then Leah develops the dream of becoming a pilot. I love how Leah has a dream right from the start. She then meets Mr. Hall who makes her dream come true and trains her to fly a plane. Girls are not very common flying planes and Mr. Hall teaches her lessons where she gets a job. Echols is brilliant at creating the story and romance. Grayson (Leah's crush) and his brother Alec consider her as one of their pilots. Grayson is very different than any other boys that I have read about because when you first read about him he is a huge a** and as a Hall man he and his brother are HOT!! There was tons of drama, which I love because Jennifer Echols does it best!! It was fun, awesome and a great read for those fans of Jennifer Echols you will love this one and its definitely the best one yet!! Leah is a great character and that ending was adorable!! I love a good ending! Looking forward to Jennifer's next novel!!
