From Our Editors
The lives of the passengers aboard flight 2039 are in the
hands of Tender Branson. This may prove to be fatal, as the last
surviving member of the Creedish Death Cult has something terrible
in store for this flight. As Branson cruises on autopilot, he is
dictating the story of his life and his thoughts on suicide,
martyrdom and the importance of press coverage. As the plane heads
for its final destination in the Australian outback, Branson
ponders the decline of society. From Chuck Palahniuk, author of
Fight Club, comes Survivor.
From the Publisher
From the author of the cult sensation Fight Club
(now a major motion picture starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and
Helena Bonham Carter) comes Survivor.
"A turbo-charged, deliciously manic satire of contemporary American
life." --Newsday
"The only difference between suicide and martyrdom is press
coverage," according to the "been there, done that" wisdom of
Tender Branson, last surviving member of the Creedish Death Cult.
At the opening of Chuck Palahniuk''s hilariously unnerving second
novel, Tender is cruising on autopilot, 39,000 feet up, dictating
the whole of his life story into Flight 2039''s "black box" in the
final moments before crashing into the vast Australian
outback.
Not since Kurt Vonnegut''s Mother Night has there
been as dark and telling a satire on the wages of fame and the
bedrock lunacy of the modern world. Wickedly incisive and
mesmerizing, Survivor is Chuck Palahniuk at his
deadpan peak.

The latest novel from the author of Fight Club is a hilarious satire of modern society's apathy and cultural impotence. Palahniuk tells the story of Tender Branson, who is the last survivor of a puritanical cult and becomes an American messiah through make-up, steroids and media manipulation rather than any kind of spirituality. The book is a real showcase for Palahniuk's amazing ability to write prose that just begs to be read over and over. This novel should appeal to those who enjoyed American Psycho or anything by Douglas Coupland.
