Another hit from Gemmell! This series is a must read for any fan of fantasy, following first Connavar and then various other generations of his family through the rough times of their peoples' lives. Thrilling and inspiring!

This first book in a new fantasy series by David Gemmell starts off with a bang. The central element of this series seems to be fate -- many characters are fully aware of the omens that would precipitate their death or similar events and often bring the events about by doing what they think is the right thing to do. As always, Gemmell's characters muse about bravery and cowardice and fate in the midst of interesting times, often similar to our own historical times. If you love Gemmell you'll love this one.
