A good story about a woman who has to redefine herself as something beyond a wife and mother when her husband leaves her for another woman. It took me a while to get through, as the story was quite thick and not one to be easily rushed through. It's a beautiful coming of age/personal self discovery story of two women, one who was abandoned by her husband, the other reeling from the death of her son, both needing to move one but neither knowing quite how to do it until they randomly contact each other and agree to trade lives for a few months. I like how they were so able to trust each other after being so hurt, and the transformations they make in each others lives despite never really meeting in person.

This was the first Maeve Binchy book I had ever read. I knew I was going to be hooked on her when I was only one-quarter of the way through and was disappointed that the story was going to end at some point. Tara Road is heart-warming, intriguing and a deep look at the lives of two very different women who come from very different backgrounds. I highly recommend it!

This is the first time I have read a Binchy novel, and I absolutely LOVED it! I thought that the plot was so realistic, and not fanciful like most. The characters were real and were portrayed as such. I couldn't put the book down and was very disappointed that it couldn't continue on when I reached the end. I would highly recommend this book to true readers at heart.

This book takes a different tack than some of the others written by Binchy but the effect is incredible. Two women from different sides of the Atlantic trade houses for a summer and the things they learn about each other and ultimately themselves is really amazing. No wonder this was an Oprah book club selection, this book gets your mind working.

It doesn't really matter what Maeve Binchy writes about, it's always fantastic. She holds your attention from start to finish with no smut, violence or filthy language. Her characters come to life in your head and it's hard to let them go.

A horribly boring tale about a wife who loves to whine about her problems rather than get on with it. Go on for about 800 pages ad nauseum.

This is one of my favourite all time books! I had never read a Maeve Binchy book before this one and was blown away. I could hardly put this down. It was a great summer read. I can't wait to read another Binchy book.

From the moment I opened this book I couldn't put it down. The solidarity of family and friends was unforgettable as well as the real life crisis' which presented itself throughout the novel. I have read this novel so many times that it has paid for itself. I would definately recommened this book to anyone!!

I thought the beginning of this book was a bit slow, but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. There were a lot of characters, which I loved, and I did'nt get confused, or mixed up at all. This is my first Maeve Binchy book and I cannot wait to read others. I hated for this book to end. I can't say enough good about it.

This was my first novel by Maeve Binchy. I've always heard good things about her writing and thought I'd read this one. I enjoyed it very much... easy to read and I finished it very quickly. I would definately recommend it.
