The Au Pairs

by Melissa de la Cruz

Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers | May 31, 2005 | Trade Paperback

Three girls with three agendas and the ultimate destination: the Hamptons.

Summer in the city? Way overrated. Everybody who''s anybody in New York City summers in the Hamptons. Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui all want a piece of the action, all for different reasons.

So the girls answer a classified ad to become au pairs. How bad can it be, watching a couple of kids on the beach all day? They''ve got the swank address, the sweet ride, and an all-access pass to the hottest social scene on the East Coast. It''s shaping up to be the summer of their lives.

    A Great Teen Read!

This is the first installment in Melissa de la Cruz's novels about the au pairs of the Hamptons. The series starts with the three main characters in high school and they have been hired to be au pairs for a weathy family in the Hamptons. The girls are up to all kinds of mischief and it makes for a light read that is quite enjoyable!

When I first picked up this book, I wasn't to sure what to think. Sure, the back sounded great but the first page or two sounded kinda boring. But I thought, hey, what do I have to lose? I can return it. So I bought it and it turns out, it was an awesome book. I even came back and bought the second one. They start out boring, but they get exciting. Sure, they may not be like regular teen life...But they are still dramatic.

I thought this book was going to be better than it was. I was kind of disappointed. It wasn't until near the end of the book that it got really interesting. I wouldn't really recommend anyone to buy this book. There's better ones out there.
