    The Cake Bible

This is a very well written book, and an excellent selection of cakes to try. The author writes in a way that is easy for non-professional bakers to have success. She includes tips, information and suggestions to accompany each cake. She even includes information about baking pans and tools. Very good to know.
My first cake was a success. I made the white velvet cake with a buttercream icing. The cake was slightly dry but the icing was superb!
The only drawback to the book is the fact that a large amount of the book is dedicated to large wedding cakes. The average person doesn't need to make a cake for 250 people. However, given the ease of the recipes, the complete information given and success on my first try, I would recommend this book to any kitchen baker.

If there is something that you need for a cake or cupcake you will find it in this book worth every penny spent on it. Most def recomend to buy this book on line as it was a lot cheaper in price than in the store! The book is a great have for any level of baker!!

If you're looking to start with basics , this is not your book. The recipes are wonderful but they are not for beginners. These recipes are complicated and extremely detailed. Definitely for someone who knows what they're doing.

About the Author

"Rose Levy Beranbaum is a kitchen chemist extraordinaire--this, after all, is the woman who wrote her master's thesis on the effects of sifting on the quality of yellow cake. In The Cake Bible, she explains the science behind types of leavening, the merits (or not) of sifting, melting chocolate, preheating ovens, and more. There are precise and detailed instructions for intricate wedding cakes as well as cakes that can be mixed and in the oven in five minutes. In addition, nutrition information is included with every recipe. Cake scientist Beranbaum doesn't forget the art, either; pencil drawings teach novice bakers how to create a garden full of flowers from royal icing and mushrooms from piped meringue. It's no wonder that the International Association of Culinary Professionals picked The Cake Bible as their cookbook of the year for 1988--this book has something to teach bakers at every level."
