The Dark Tower

by Sharon Stewart

Scholastic Canada, Ltd | March 1, 1998 | Mass Market Paperbound

As the French Revolution begins in 1789, the eleven-year-old daughter of King Louis XVI of France is not really afraid; surely her beloved Papa will make everything right?

Poor Marie Therese -- or Mousseline, as her family has nicknamed her -- she has no way of knowing about the terror and anguish to come. In the nightmarish years that will follow, Mousseline and her family will be imprisoned, and her father, mother, aunt and little brother will all die. She herself will remain a prisoner for years in a dismal tower before she regains her freedom -- and even then she will spend much of her life in exile in Europe and Britain as political turbulence continues in France.

Based on the incredible journals that Marie Therese kept of her experiences, The Dark Tower is a riveting work of historical fiction that tells the story of a privileged princess who lost everything but her life to the French Revolution.

I read the new edition of the Dark tower - the Princess in the Tower. it was unbelievably good! It was truly extraordinary that a princess survived prison for 6 years and lived to be healthy and sane. Remarkable history and fiction novel. Thanx, Sharon Stewart for writing this!!
