The Last Song

by Nicholas Sparks

Grand Central Publishing | February 4, 2010 | Trade Paperback

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller''s life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alientated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone''s best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie''s father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.
The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts...and heal them.

    good summer read

Out of all the Nicholas Sparks books Ive read, this one falls about in the middle for me. I really enjoyed the story and character development of Ronnie but there were parts that I found to be a bit dry. Recommend the book over the movie a hundred times over but there are still parts of the storyline in the movie I preferred to the book. A Sparks fan will absolutely enjoy this book though.

    A Great Love Story

I totally recommend The Last Song, it’s an amazing book. Nicholas Sparks is such a wonderful author, all his books are really realistic. This is a very moving story and it will bring tears to every sensitive person. I couldn’t stop reading this book, I always wanted to know more about the story. The relationship Ronnie has with her father is complicated and it’s sad to see how much she is angry at him. The more we read it, the more we understand why Ronnie feels that way toward him. During the summer, she will gradually get closer to him. Music will help their relationship and bring them back to each other again. At the same time, we also learn about her relationship with her first boyfriend. The feelings a first love bring are very well explain and I think every girl can relate to that Unfortunately, Ronnie will learn something at the end of the summer that will change everything. This is a great love story between a teenage girl and her father and also with her first boyfriend. This is probably a book mostly for teenage girls and for young adults but there is a wonderful lesson that everyone can learn from that book.

    Tear Jerker

If you enjoy curling up in bed or on the couch and reading a good tear jerker, this is the book for you. This book has something about it that just won't allow you to put it down. I would say this book would be more targeted to women, young and mature. I would definately suggest it as a gift for your daughter, or even your mother. Nicholas Sparks does a great job, as he does in most of his books, making you feel like you are part of the story. This is a book that you will not be able to put down once you start it.
