From Our Editors

This heart-healthy cookbook, published in co-operation with the Canadian Heart Foundation, is crammed with 200 mouth-watering recipes from a Seafood Lettuce Roll appetizer to Strawberry Mousse. These quick and easy recipes, many with microwave instructions, are based on the foundation’s dietary recommendations and are accompanied by a nutritional analysis listing such information as fatty content, calories, carbohydrates and cholesterol. In addition, the cookbook contains a lifestyle section, which offers tips on feeding a family on the run, cooking for one and teaching kids healthy eating habits.

About the Author

Readers looking for health-conscious menus will find them in the cookbooks written by award-winning nutritionist Anne Lindsay. Her recipes are a flavorful mix of low-fat, low-sodium foods, controlled calories and easy preparation. This winning combination has sold over 1.5 million books. Two of Lindsay's most popular titles are "The American Cancer Society Cookbook "(1988), written in consultation with Diane J. Fink, M.D., and "The Lighthearted Cookbook" (1988), published in conjunction with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Each book contains over 200 recipes reflecting research on nutritional guidelines that can reduce the risk of developing cancer or heart disease. Among Lindsay's other works are "Smart Cooking" (1986, rev. ed., 1996), "The Lighthearted Every Day Cookbook" (1991), "Low-Cholesterol Cuisine" (1992), "Anne Lindsay's Light Kitchen" (1994) and "Anne Lindsay's New Light Cooking"(1998). All feature taste-appealing, health-promoting, easy-to-make foods. Anne Lindsay Greer was born in Canada in 1944. She is a food writer, consultant, home economist and the 1987 winner of the General Foods Award for Excellence in Nutrition Communication.

I received this book as a gift and it has become my favorite cookbook, better than Company's Coming or Best of Bridge. This book certainly combines nutrition and good taste!
