Susie Salmon tells her life story from her afterlife, after she was murdered by a neighbour. From heaven, she follows the lives of her family.her parents and her sister and brother; her schoolfriends; and her murderer, Mr Harvey. She recounts the effect her death had on her worldher fathers obsession with the murder, and his growing suspicions about Mr Harvey; her sisters attempts to live her own life while seeking to avenge Susies death; her mothers flight from the family in the wake of her daughters murder and her desperate quest to make her life bearable again.
