After U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman buried in the dirt during his tour of duty in Iraq , he experiences a sudden streak of luck -- winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat . Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph -- his lucky charm. Back home in Colorado , Thibault can''t seem to get the woman in the photograph out of his mind and he sets out on a journey across the country to find her. But Thibault is caught off guard by the strong attraction he feels for the woman he encounters in North Carolina - Elizabeth, a divorced mother -- and he keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate love affair, his secret soon threatens to tear them apart -- destroying not only their love, but also their lives. Filled with tender romance and terrific suspense, THE LUCKY ONE is an unforgettable story about the surprising paths our lives often take and the power of fate to guide us to true and everlasting love.

This story had me hooked from start to finish. The Characters are all relateable on some level and the plot is a perfect Nicholas Sparks story. The movie does not even compare to the book. Highly Recommend!!

Another really good book by Nicholas Sparks

Another reall good book but I just wish that Nicholas Sparks would branch out a bit and not always have the book based in North Carolina and maybe try to change up the book charaters. All his books are kind of predictable; however, saying that, I still love to read his books.

A Really Good Book But Not His Best

I've been a Sparks fan for many years now and I have yet to read one of his novels and not enjoy it. The great thing about Nicholas Sparks is that as he weaves his stories you get so drawn in and attached to the characters, this book being no exception to that. However as you get so caught up in these characters' lives Sparks likes to really rip the rug out from under you, emotionally anyways. In the lucky one that just didn't happen for me. It's a good story with great characters, just a bit anticlimactic for me.

Nicholas Sparks has a talent in bringing you so close with the characters, it is as if you know them deeply. You become part of their little family. I found myself eager to find out what the outcome of the book would be. Loved the ending. It was sweet and worth the read :)
