This novel, considered to be the first English detective novel, has influenced the likes of Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens. If you like suspense, mystery, and humour, you'll love the way this story unfolds, taking various leads until it is finally solved in a way you probably wouldn't think of. The characters have very distinct personalities, and are all delightful in their own way.
