From Our Editors

Noah Calhoun is haunted by images of the love he left behind when he went to war. But now the war is over and he is back in coastal North Carolina. Unfortunately, his lost love is about to marry someone else. Socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry, but she can't stop thinking of the boy who stole her heart so long ago. This story of love shows that we can turn tragedy into triumph and that miracles really can happen. The Notebook is based on the story of Nicholas Sparks' wife's grandparents.

From the Publisher

Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story-it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again... At thirty-one, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At twenty-nine, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle...

    Abosolutely Awful! 1

This review is from: The Notebook (Hardcover)

The same old generic Nicholas Sparks style of writing. The writing is childish and doesn't have any depth. It's really unfortunate that people believe this to be the best book they've ever read. If you want a good classic love story try Wuthering Heights. Nicholas Sparks is just a pathetic excuse for a writer, in my opinion.

    Ah...Nicholas Sparks...another good book 4

I just finished reading this book, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. This is the second Nicholas Sparks book that I read, and I must say, even though his books are a bit short, the stories that he tells are amazing. I love how he brings the reader into the world of the characters...and how the love of the Noah and Allie had survived and flourished over the years. It makes you believe that soul mates do truly exist. A tear jerker, on all accounts.

    Love Everlasting... 5

This review is from: The Notebook (Mass Market Paperbound)

This book is for the dreamer...or anyone who beleives in happily ever after. The plot is extremely easy to be sucked into and then from there you just can't put it down. An enchanting story of the power and innocence of first love, and how true love always wins out in the end. Be sure to have tissues handy...we're talking Nicholas Sparks here.

    Love & Tragedy 3

This review is from: The Notebook (Audio Book (Cassette))

The beginning of this book is very, very fast pace and then it relatively slows down near the end. It is a predictable book, but still a good read. So much love and tragedy written in this short, nighttime of a read novel.

The power of true love 5

This review is from: The Notebook (Trade Paperback)

One of the most inspiring and powerful love stories to be put to paper, The Notebook makes you appreciate the loves in your own life. Let me sum it up this way... 3 a.m. lying on the floor with my cat and a box of kleenex and just having a good soulful sob over the power of love and the power of loving words shared betwwen two people.

Even better than Message In A Bottle this tear jerker brought me smiles and a great sense of peace afterwards. 'A can't put me down' read that is wonderfully poetic yet simply written in truth from the heart of the author. Another keeper for everyone to enjoy.

This book is amazing!! Nicholas Sparks writes terrific books. This is a very easy to read book which holds your interest making you want to finish the book to find out the end of the story. The story jumps from the present of an elderly man in a nursing home telling another resident about the love of his life in the past. It is a wonderful romance story. I highly recommend this book and other titles by Nicholas Sparks including The Rescue and A Bend In The Road. read more

True love at its best! 5

This review is from: The Notebook (Hardcover)

This is one of the best love stories I have read in years. A story of their love that can over come so many changes. In the end it is still deep in there. As having a family memeber with this sad but true to life sickness it is very heart warming to see that things work out in the end. And just being your self and true to your heart is the best you can do.

I loved every moment of this book! I was fortunate enough to have read the book before watching the movie - the book is much more touching and romantic. I highly recommend this beautiful love story.

This book made me cry the most, the depth of love was very over powering, and that love could take you so very far. I'm not too sure though, even if the depth of love in this book was the greatest and the one that pulled the most heartstrings I don't think it was the best of his books. I'm not sure but after reading all of Nicholas Spark's other book The Notebook just didn't seem as good as it sounded to be. read more
