TG went out on a limb with this book tearing away from typical SOT action in a departure that focused on two good and evil character studies. I probably expect that this installment will work to setup further plot developments in the world and you can see that foreshadowing.

The first half of the book can be tough and a bore if you are a regular reader to the series and jonesing for your RR fix. But you have to learn to let it go and read the material for what it is. However, the betrayal was fairly predictable in my humble opinion but I think he dropped too many clues along the way that I picked up on.

The last quarter of the book returned to his old pace though and once Richard showed up it was old hat page turning and I burned through it really fast at the end. At times the book was a bit preachey as TG injects his philosophies on world politics...and well really sometimes for paragraphs at a time.
I would recommend it was enjoyable.

Faith of the Fallen (the preceding book) makes this one even more of a disappointment. It's essentially the author going off on a tangent that achieves next to no plot development. I also found the new characters irritating and one-dimensional. This was really unnecessary and is a total waste of time. Spare yourselves.

Okay. This book is important in the context of understanding Rahl's overall journey and understanding the importance of his ally and sister, Jennsen. However, readers will be a bit lost in the beginning trying to grasp the importance of such a character. It was a quick read, but Goodkind failed to capitalize on Rahl's personal journey in this book...something readers are really ready to dig into. Read it. Get through it. Move on to the next book.

It is true, after reading every page with delight in the previous six books, this seventh book can be a horrible shock. But permit me this advice, read it again soon after and you will enjoy it! Once you get over the difference in the character perspectives, and order your mind around the fact that it doesn't deal with what you thought it would, it is truly interesting. This has been an incredible journey, and don't wuss out now, just because of a couple of bumps in the road!

i have to agree that this book was not particularly as good as all the other ones that goodkind has written. all his other ones were page turners, books i didn't want to put down and books i would lose sleep over because i couldn't stop reading them. however, pillars of creations was a big disappointment for me. it was boring, uninteresting and nothing really happened in the book. it took me 2 years to finally finish the book because it was really that bad, i chose to read other books instead and when i finally had not other books to read, pillars of creations was my last resort. it was by far the worse one i have read in the entire series.

I bought this book expecting the continuation of the series. Instead i get 600 pages of crap about people i don't know or care about. Where was Richard and Kahlan, they have a breif cameo at the end of the book in their series but thats all. Oba and Jennsen are just annoying and stupid, just like Sebastien. What the hell are Pillars of Creation anyways?

Overall, the book was pretty good. However, Richard (remember him?) was absent for nearly the entire book. And it was never told from HIS point of view! the new characters that we met were pretty interesting. one was extremely annoying. Oba. Anyway if you're expecting a book packed with Richard converting cities in the Old World you're in for a disappointment. However, if you like a good read I'd still recommend this book.

I have followed this series and patiently waited for each new book to come out. This time my wait was a waste of time. The two new characters were an excuse for him to use some saved up sadist twists and not much else. Evil is evil and naive is naive. No stretch to see this plot.
Finally, at the end of the book we find Richard and Kahlan again, just in time to save the day. Richard spouts out a monologue to tie up all the loose ends in the story, reminds us of our moral imperative and the story ends.
For this I waited? I won't wait again.

I am a new comer to the SOT series and this is the second I have read. I have to say that this book was an absolute page turner. Although characters from previous books in the series did not have a big part in the story line, I have to say that Goodkind has done an extraordinary job once again. Pillars of Creations took me from excitement to fear to anticipation and finally to tears as I got caught up in the struggles that Jensen faced in the world around her as well as inside her own heart and mind. This book is a must read. Bravo!!!

I've loved every book of this series previous to this volume. In fact, in my opinion, each novel got better and better, so it was with great anticipation that purchased this book and prepared to lose myself in it.
I kept reading it and reading it, waiting for the main characters we've come to know and love to make their appearance. But no! Instead you have about 600 pages of crap about a pair of characters that are quite obviously transients in this series. Of course Richard Rahl comes in to save the day (world) at the end of the book, otherwise it may as well have been a novel set in the world of Richard Rahl, but not part of the series. I'm at a loss to describe how ripped off I felt upon finishing it. The first words out of my mouth when I closed it for what is sure to be the last time were Well, that sucked! . I think those three words sum up my review. I wish I could give it 1/2 a star.

As with all his previous book in this series TG has captured my attention and wonder. It took me only 17 hours to read this book the first time as I couldn’t put it down. Even though I purchased this book less than 1 month ago I am already reading it for a second time and am enjoying it just as much as the first time even though I know what will happen next. As with all his previous books I have recommended this volume to all my friends and look forward to the next chapter in the Sword of Truth saga.

I found this book to be very slow going, his new charaters were very layed back.He hardly brought in the old charaters,even they didn't seem right, when he finally did bring them in. It was like someone else helped him write the book. It was not his usual keep you going, wanting more, style. I love Terry Goodkinds book. ACTION ALL THE WAY normally.

After having enjoyed the rest of the Sword of Truth novels I am very disappointed in this one. None of the characters from the series even have so much as a cameo appearance until almost the end of the book. Goodkind seems to have fallen into the Robert Jordan like method of dragging on the series and going nowhere with a series simply to meet the publishers demands of more money based on a name. I have noticed that once and author reaches the point where their name is larger than the title on the book cover, then it is probably time to start looking elsewhere for entertainment.

I was really confused when I began reading the book, but then it all fit into place. While Richard and Kahlan don't appear until the end, they aren't forgotten, and are still the main focus. Overall, I thought it was a very good book, not too exciting until the end, but still good. I await the next novel by Terry Goodkind.

While some others may find this book lacking in the general, fast-paced action of Terry Goodkind's Faith of the Fallen, I don't believe it is necessarily worse than Faith of The Fallen. Terry Goodkind introduces what I think are going to be some key characters for the future books with a very interesting story and plot. I think we have all got a little too focused sometimes on Richard and Khalan, though I admit I missed them a lot, to appreciate the build up to the next installment. Personally speaking, this book has just whet my appetite for the next.

This series started off with a bang, however the farther it goes, the more boring it gets. This book was the worst yet, and I had to skip entire pages just to get through it. Richard and Kahlan didn't even appear until just before page 500. Aggh.

I found that he took way too long to introduce the two new Characters HMM Drefan, oh sorry it is Oba.I found the repetition of those two boring and found myself flipping through sections of this book. Unlike Soul of the Fire which I read every page. All I can say is Terry PLEASE do NOT go The same route As Robert Jorden Let us readers have some closure.

All in all the ending and later section of the book were well written and the end still left me wanting more so bring on the next book.

When I first got started I wondered who was this girl and what is going on with Richard and Kahlan? Pretty soon I didn't care anymore because I was too rapped up with her story. This book was an awesome read and really brought the whole series into a different light. Though he(Goodkind) hasn't gotten on with the story in a while, he can still draw the readers along with his tale. I definitely recommend this book to anyone.

It is a very good book but it does not have a whole lot of our favourite heroes Richard and Kahlan, which are the whole reason why I read the series. It is very much involved in their story though. Good job Terry!

This was a poor way to follow up Faith of the Fallen (a masterpiece). While the character development was excellent in this installment,the story dragged to much. The start of this story should have been launched in Temple of the Winds along with the character Drefan. This book made me forget Soul of Fire.
