I really enjoyed this book more than the first. It was fast paced and entertaining. I need to find out if they all come together and what happens with Marina, Crayton and Ella and John, Six and Sam!!

Wow I really enjoyed a good book. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book. I need to know if they ever come together and if Sam finds his dad.

This book continues the story of our hero, John Smith, from "I am Number Four" - this time he is on the run with his best friend, Sam and another alien, "Six". They spend a lot of time dodging the authorities (who think they are terrorists) and the usual Mogadorians (who are trying to kill them). The story has another plot involving a female alien in Spain, Marina, who is number seven. I am never a big fan of split storylines and this one is no exception - the novel is fast-paced and exciting but loses much of its impact from the constant shifting between characters, chapter by chapter. In addition, because John and company are on the run, you don't see the same character development between the three as you might if they were living somewhere with stronger supporting characters (like the first book with Henri, Sarah, etc). The action sequences were very much like a comic book but just as improbable (hundreds of people firing and no one is getting hit). I liked some of the new numbers that we get to meet in this book -particularly Number Nine who seems to be more combat ready than the others. Even with its faults, this book is definitely a fun and fast read and I am looking forward to the next installment.

Mini Book Review: I didn't enjoy it as much as I am Number 4 but it was still a fast paced fun story. I think the real problem with it was the character of Number Seven who was just a blah forgettable character. I did enjoy some of the secondary characters in her storyline, but not her. I found I skimmed her chapters just so I could get back to John and Six who were far more intriguing. Their storyline is moving along nicely and there are some lovely fun light moments interspersed within the intense on the run plot. John is a loveable character who you cheer for even when he makes stupid mistakes and Six is the kick a** chick that I would love to be. I also liked the development of Sam's storyline and I look forward to finding out what happened to his Dad. The ending is fantastic and has left me counting down the days until the next installment comes out. 4 Dewey's I purchased this for my Kobo

It is even more full of adventure, suspense and excitement then the first book. I can not wait for the next book!

But aside from this, we are introduced to new numbers and a little someone who probably surprised me more than it did the actual characters. When you first begin to read this book we are introduced to Marina, Number Seven, living at a Cethedral with her Cepan, Adelina. Ever since hearing of John Smith on the news, Marina has been reading articles about him. Although she is determined to find him and the raven- haired girl in her dreams, Adelina is against the whole idea. On the other hand, John Smith, Number Six and Sam travel from city to city, encountering more and more Mogadorians they could have ever imagined. Friends turn into enemies and enemies turn out to be anything but. Something is brewing, and soon, the battle everyone has been waiting for will soon arrive. But of course, not before we're introduced to some of the other numbers. After reading I am Number Four, I patiently awaited the anticipated sequal, so the minute I was able to save up a few bucks, out to Chapters I went. Opening the books hard cover was like opening doors to the unknow. Anything could happen beyond its pages. The beginning wasn't as "adventurist" as I was expecting. To be honest, I was disapointed. This should not stop you from reading on. It was refreshing to learn of a new number. Marina is Number Seven. Her cepan could give a fiddlers fart about her legacies and is always praying to God or has her nose stuck between bible pages. We see in Number Six and Four how strong and powerful they are. Marina having discovered her legacies through accidental scenarios, wasn't as strong, but still pulled through during a major battle. She's the type of character you couldn't judge right away. She's unpredictable and spontaneous. I actually quite admired her for this. Overall, I have no complaintes for this character. She was well developed, not the typical "help me" girl characters tend to be. I guess you could say she was a 'soft' bad-ass. The entire book was not in the POV of Marina. Chapters were also told by John Smith. I never liked Sarah. Actually, completely hated her. Maybe it had to do with my crush on John Smith during the first book, but I knew I was going to continue to hate her. John Smith gets kind of annoying during this book. He's all "but I love Sarah, I do!" She's a pathetic human, John, pathetic. I wont say too much because then I might be tempted to spoil some really interesting points of the book, but prepare to find John Smith stupid! Sam has always been the greatest. He's a nerd who is overly obsessed with aliens. Not to mention he is completely bad-ass. I don't think their are many humans who could say they've killed about 100 Mogadorians. Yes, Sam does. He's witty, adventerious, and so loyal. You can't help but love him instantly. Now, on to the plot. It wasn't disappointing. It took unexpected turns. It wasn't predicatable. Like my doors leading to the unknown, this story led to the unknown. I am Number Four focused more on John Smith and Sarah Hart's love, but in this, there is so much action and so many dead Mogadorian's, I found myself laughing at the helpless beasts everytime Sam killed one of them. This book was so well writen, I felt like I was apart of the fighting. A stab here, and an explotion of ash there, it was amazing! This book is so descriptive and full of feeling, it leaves your eyes rapidly reading sentence after sentence. Overall, this book was surprising. I was reading this on the GO bus one day and laughed, gasped, sighed and anyother form of emotion-showing one could do. I think people thought I was a little crazy. Rating: 5 curly piggy tails!

When does the next book come out? I hope they make this new book into a movie. So good definitely a must read if you loved the first one!

From the moment I cracked the spine on this book to the moment I shut it I was hooked. This book was non-stop action, I loved the introduction of Marina, and while at first I wasn't quite sure about her I found myself really enjoying her part of the story. The two simultaneous stories of John/Six/Sam and Marina/Ella are perfectly spaced and intertwined, just when I needed a break from one storyline, in came the next. It was delightfully paced and so exciting to read. The only part I didn't like was the budding feelings between John and Six, but thats most likely because I am just a diehard John/Sarah fan, and a romantic. If you enjoyed the first book you'll love the second. If you enjoyed the movie, read the first book then read The Power of Six.

After really enjoying I Am Number Four I was super excited to get a chance to read The Power of Six. The sequel picks right up with John, Sam and Six on the run after the huge showdown at the school in Paradise. Along with our usual trio, the perspective also switches every few chapters to Marina, Number Seven, who's hiding in an orphanage in Spain with her Cepan. I really liked the addition of a new character but, unfortunately, the first half of the book was a little slow for me. Other than a few close calls with police, or in Marina's case, nuns, I was looking forward to more than walks at night or sneaking off to use a computer. Fear not however, because the second half of the book was awesomeee. It was like one thing after another, surprise after surprise and I loved it! We get to learn more about Lorien, about the second ship John saw in a vision, the chests and what's inside them, Sam's dad's disappearance, and more Garde members. All of it was so unexpected but it was so exciting to read about. John, Six and Sam go through a lot together, however the romance that appears here was one I'm not entirely sure about. It seemed sort of awkward and unrealistic and mostly I couldn't believe it was actually progressing. Anyway...yay Bernie Kosar! By far the best part of the whole novel was the end, and not in a bad way. Enemies are coming from every direction and there was so much action and I loved seeing the new characters working together and the powers. Love the powers! It was all exhilarating and adrenaline inducing. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and it definitely sets up for one heck of a sequel.
