For Katherine''s host and uncle, Alec Campion, aka the Mad Duke Tremontaine, is in charge here-and to him, rules are made to be broken. When Alec decides it would be more amusing for his niece to learn swordplay than to follow the usual path to marriage, her world changes forever. Could have been better

The premise of the story is originally what caught me, but as I read, I realised that there was actually a previous novel before this. Because I had no idea, as I got further into the novel, it became confusing, especially when the point of views changed so radically from first person to third without much reason. The plot was pieced together, and near the end, it seemed rushed to me.

All in all, it's not a bad read, but I feel it could have been better, especially since the author delves into past happenings from the previous book and expects the reader to know or remember everything from it.
