The Red Tent is one of my favourite books of all time. It's not a leisurely read, but I wouldn't say it's hard either. It has a very unique voice and of course a historical feel (set in Biblical times) and once you get over the initial introduction of a lot of characters, the story moves along at a good pace. This book is layered with texture and emotion and when I finished it, I had to wait a week or so before starting another book because it really stayed with me.
