It wasn't as good as the Darkest Powers Series but it was still ok. It was kinda boring and didn't really have much action in it. The characters were good but i didn't like how the characters from the Darkest powers weren't in it as much as people were letting on. I also didn't really like the ending. I found that I didn't like the ending. It seemed that it was a cliffhanger and it was left unfinished. It also made me think, "After all that, it was all to get right back to the start?" The characters also seemed to have a few unresolved things. It was ok, But i didn't really like the ending.

Um, yes to everything that went on in this book? So much happened, as in all the coolest things ever. Whereas in The Calling, the only thing that happened was them escaping and wandering around, now they have a purpose: find the teens from Project Genesis (ahem Chloe, ahem, Derek), and get them to help them negotiate (*cough* sabotage) St. Cloud’s and the Nasts for their freedom. While it takes them awhile to get to the Project Genesis people, the anticipation isn’t the only thing that drives the book. Maya meets her brother pretty early on in the book, and he’s a major character in the rest of the story, but their relationship as sister/brother doesn’t come easily to either character. Plus, the dreaded love triangle rears its ugly head. However, in this case, I was rooting for it to happen the entire time, because while Maya and Rafe’s relationship was cute and really passionate, it wasn’t what I was rooting for. So much happens in this book that it’s hard to sum up all my feelings for what went on. My favourite parts were definitely the ones when the old team arrived and were just plain awesome. Derek is SO Derek, and Chloe was sweet and awesome from the first moment, but it was really interesting to see other characters’ reactions to them. While they all thought Derek was an overprotective douche, Maya’s wariness around Chloe’s necromancy was cool, especially when she notices Chloe talking to Liz’s ghost. They’re not in Canada the whole time over the course of this book (mostly because they meet up with Project Genesis in the states), but they were around BC enough to be awesome enough for me. Maya’s twin’s jokes about Canada were also well-placed and original. I guess that makes sense, because Canadian’s tell the best jokes about themselves haha. We’re very self-deprecating. The only . . . weird . . . thing about this book is the ending. It’s not your typical ending. Not everything is resolved, and while I think it was the right thing for the characters’ to achieve, I definitely think Kelley Armstrong will continue this series in some way with these characters, and new ones, to carry on what Maya and her gang accomplished. Get ready for lots of action, mystery, and a ton of character development in this last installment of Kelley Armstrong’s The Darkness Rising trilogy. I highly recommend this series to anyone interested in a new take on the paranormal genre and strong, female leads who know when to take care of themselves and when to rely on others’ for help.

i got to start off by saying i cant belive this sores is over i loved the first part and now the sec part i been waiteing for this book and it was so awsome i do wish that chole and dirck were in it a bit more but i am gald they alll came back in it and i knew she was going to end up with him cant realy say who but u must read and u will find out 50 thumbs up

The Good Stuff Loved how much dry humour was in this installment. Always used when you needed it most. Got a big kick out of the American/Canadian snark (all done lovingly though) Actually learned a few things which is always a bonus Satisfying ending - wraps up a lot but still leaves it open enough if Kelley ever decides to write about this world again Some fabulous parental role models - one of my favorite part of this series is that not ALL the parents are useless or abusive Plenty of action and twists and turns I love all of Kelley's books, but I have to say this series has been my favorite of them all. Love how the author sums up what happened in the other two books in such a way that it gives a reminder to those who read them months before, yet not too much for those who maybe just finished them a couple of days ago. Characters feel very real, they all have faults, in other words people that you can relate to Strong friendships Positive mentions of natives - I'm living in Calgary now and cannot tell you how many people here make negative and derogatory comments about the local native population Loved that most of the series is set in Canada The Not So Good Stuff A wee bit of repetition in terms of the angsty moments - hard to explain without going spoiling anything Favorite Quotes/Passages "Which was not to say louts are obviously American - only ones who didn't realize they couldn't buy beer in any store." "You guys aren't really teens, are you?" Ash said. "They've brainwashed you into miniature adults, full of responsibility and good eating habits. I'm surprised you haven't bought a - " He noticed the toothbrush in my hand. "Seriously?| "Wild animal attacks on humans are rare, but all of the predators in Canada, the cougar may be the one most likely to do it. Obviously, this guy never got the memo. After this, he'd probably be going to zoos, climbing the enclosure, saying. "Here watch this ... " Famous last words, as yet another unfit human is removed from the gene pool." Who Should/Shouldn't Read Obviously if you enjoyed The Calling and The Gathering you are going to love this Fans of Kelley's other books And basically just anyone who enjoys a good story. Armstrong is a born storyteller which I consider to be one of the greatest gifts one can have 4.5 Dewey's
