This was my first John Grisham novel, so i wasn't sure what to expect and so i kept an open mind. However, i soon found out that this book was boring. The characters weren't developed, there was too many courtroom details, and some of the plot was just a bit unbelievable. The only thing that kept me going until the end was to see Fitch's reacation to the verdict.
Throughout the book the lawyers would state that they wanted things to move along in the court house because the jurors were getting bored - well maybe JG should have cut out at least 100 pages for the readers! If imaginary characters were getting bored, imagine the live reader!
Borrow this book from the library if determined to read it. That way there's no money lost - just some time :)

This novel was exciting and educational at the same time, since it helped me to learn a great deal about the trials, and the jury. This novel is about cigarette companies beings put on trial, and a person trying to poison the jury's decision, by eliminating the smart jurors one by one.

All of John Grisham's books are great, but this one is my favortie. The story was put together perfectly and you can't put it down because you have to find out what happens next. The characters all all orginal and exciting to learn about, and the unexpected events in the book made it even better to read. It's a great novel!

This book, is one of the quintessential books on law one should read, and THE book one should read on the inner workings of juries. Now, I am a fan of courtroom oriented books and movies, so naturally I would enjoy this novel, but for the person who finds law bland, this could still be the book for you. We all know John Grisham is a master at suspenseful storytelling and intricate plots, and he sure does not throw away that reputation with this work. An intelligent novel, with interesting characters, and "average Joes" on the jury that many readers can relate to. If you want a light book to fall sleep to and dream of butterflies, this is not the choice for you. But of you want to go to bed feeling like your involved in one big con, and yearning for tommorrow to come so you can read more, than this is the novel for you.

Another classic John Grisham in which the drama is nail biting and riveting right to the end. Believe me, you will not put this book down until you've read it front to back. Although it wasn't as intense as the "Client" or "The Rainmaker", it will keep you interested.

This is a book that gets back at all those big companies and CEO types that think they are untouchable. I found that this book was well planned out and had good follow through. The people in the book new what they had to do and followed threw to the end with no way of getting caught for any wrong doings. It is a good book and I enjoy Grisham very much. If you now of others authors that are as good as he is could you please e-mail me Thank-you.

As The Runaway Jury was the third John Grisham novel I read, I was quite disapointed. There is not enough action such as courtroom brawls etc. I was bored from page 1, and was glad when it ended. This book is nothing like A Time to Kill or The Chamber.

The plot was slow moving and thoroughly uninteresting. The characters were not well developed. Although the author tried to give us insight into each and every juror's psyche, I couldn't tell what made them tick. I also found it hard to keep track of these people: 12 jurors, 3 extras, countless lawyers on each side, and even more outside parties working undercover for the lawyers.

The best aspect of this novel was the thorough and elaborate description of the effects of smoking and the tobacco companies themselves.

The book was a fast read, but certainly not a page-turner.

I was disappointed with this book. It didn't catch my interest and I found it to be his weakest work to date.

An absolutely fantastic read. It didn't leave my hands until the last page was read. Can't wait until the next Grisham novel arrives on the shelves.

This book was captivating. A vivid light is cast on the legal system making this less an action book and more a thinking book. Very enjoyable. Better than much of his later work.
