This book is absolutley amazing. AT first it was just a normal book but it captivates you and PLEASE READ IT. i Stayed in bed all day to finish it . CANT WAIT FOR 2ND BOOK omg

I picked this book up for 99 cents and I didn't really know anything about it or what to expect but I was so impressed! It is not usually the type of book I read but it kept me engrossed the whole time (I even kicked a friend out so I could finish reading it.. I am a good person, I swear.) I am so excited for the sequel and you shouldn't hesitate to pick it up!

In a Hunger Games-like battle for a prince's love, The Selection will captivate you like nothing else. America is a passionate, fiery, heroine who will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I can't wait for the rest of the trilogy to come out!

the book was great! i really enjoyed reading it and it was a really great past time. i con't wait for the next book to come out soon and for those who like a nice romance with a mixed in friendship and forbidden love, this book is perfect for you!

However, when the announcement of the Selection is given - the chance of 35 lucky girls to win over the heart of Prince Maxon, and therefore the crown - her whole life is turned upside down. Pushed by her family, and her secret boyfriend Aspen, America enters the contest reluctantly, but postitive that she's not going to be picked. What are the odds, right? But of course, she's picked. How else would there be a story if she wasn't? I really, really liked the way that Cass wrote the scene of America being picked for the Selection. She wasn't even watching the TV when it happened! It only reinforced her belief that she wasn't going to be picked. And the names of all of the characters? America, Aspen, Kota, and a bunch of other names that were just AWESOME. Loved the names of the characters! America was a strong main character for this book, and I absolutely loved her. Her inexperience of the world outside of her town was brilliant, and even though she was unsure of what was going to happen next, she had a very strong head on her shoulders and always did what she thought was right without even considering the conciquences. Her and Aspens relationship was hot and... Brief. But between her and Maxon? Ohboy! I really want more of that. I give Cass a million and one kudos for not making it insta-love between the two of them, I absolutely hate when that happens between characters. Because their love for each other was gradual, and down-right hilarious, the love-triangle in the book actually worked! It wasn't one of those annoying things that just pop out of nowhere, and you actually understand America's indecision between Aspen and Maxon (Although the choice is obvious, Team Maxon!). And although the ending didn't go out with a bang... It still felt very fitting. I was easily satisfied with the ending, and I can say that without a doubt I am SO eager to get my hands on the next book! Ps; Thanks for acknowledging the late-night readers, Kiera! I don't know what about this book made me fall in love with it. It was not what I thought it was going to be. This book was diffrernt from other books I've read. The characters were beautifully done but it's hard to describe how I felt about the characters. The plot was just amazing. It was well thought out and was not rushed or too slow. The story made me feel a kind of peace that I can't really describe and don't always find in other books. The settings were good and I still think that this book deserves five stars. I enjoyed it alot and think that it's the perfect read for myself. The characters' diffrernt personalitys really surprised me. They were described like I was hearing about them from the person them self. I can't really describe how I felt about this book, the plot and the characters. C:

The Selection is about a girl named America Singer that gets chosen for The Selection which is a big contest that 34 other girls get picked for and they fight ( not literally ) for the chance to be the Princes new bride while at the same time fighting to deal with there high and low ( rich and poor ) ranks in society. The Selection is like The Bachalor meets the Dysopian genre and I thought it was great, I was very interested in everything and I want to read the next in the series. I really liked the concept and even with a bit of a love triangle I was rooting for both guys. I really liked the characters, I thought America was a great female lead and she had a good head on her shoulders. I liked Maxon the prince charming of the story and I enjoyed that even though he is royalty he's very down to earth. Then there is Aspen, America's first love in the story, I really liked how things were being handled towards the end of the book, relationship wise. Overall I thought this book was great, the story itself was very interesting and it was a very fast read, I would recommend this book to people that like contemporary romace with a bit of Dystopian and drama thrown in there. :0)

I wasn't really all too sure what to expect with The Selection. To be honest, I was initially very put off by some of the controversy and drama surrounding the book in regards to the negative reviews it was receiving, but after also hearing very positive thoughts on the book, I felt very torn. In the end, the allure of the cheaper paperback international edition and the stunning book cover couldn't keep me away... and I'm glad I kept an open mind on The Selection, at least giving it a chance. The Selection is probably one of the lighter dystopian books you can find on bookshelves right now, but there are hints of a darker future to come in the next two novels of the trilogy. Out of the ashes of the United States, the nation of Illéa has risen to take its place with a monarchy as its head of state after years of war. Every citizen belongs in a certain caste system, with One being the best and Eight the worst, which limits their income, level of education and the careers they're allowed to have. When it's announced that Prince Maxon has come of age to marry, it's the chance of a lifetime for thirty-five girls to be chosen in the Selection and be swept away to a luxurious world of excess. Every girl in Illéa would do anything for a chance to be one of the Selected and compete for the heart of Prince Maxon, but not America Singer. Her heart secretly belongs to Aspen, a young man who's a caste below her, but nothing is what she expected it to be when she arrives at the royal palace... especially not Prince Maxon, himself. Because the more time she spends with the heir to the throne, the more indecisive her feelings become. While she never intended to take the competition seriously when she first arrived, Maxon's sweet and genuinely charming personality has taken a place in her heart she can't deny. Despite my annoyance at America for her frequent denials of being beautiful, especially in the the beginning of the novel, I still can't help admiring her for sticking to the sensible advice of just being yourself as The Selection progresses. Is it cynical of me to think that I was hoping for more backstabbing between the girls in the book? While there are rules in the Selection to stop the girls from hurting one another, I was certainly still thinking more of them would try to work around them. There's definitely at least one mean girl you just want to give the evil eye to in the book, but you don't really get to know too many of the girls except their names. Instead, some of the more exciting moments were the rebel attacks on the castle... but I wish we could have actually seen more happen than the girls being shepherded into one big room together. I'm really hoping Kiera Cass throws America into more dangerous situations in the next book... and that we learn more about the rebels's objectives instead of the propaganda the King tells his people. I may have wished for stronger world-building and character development to bring The Selection to the next level, but I still think Kiera Cass's debut novel was an enjoyable, quick read. I was addicted to discovering what would happen to America next and learning more about the dystopian society she lives in. After liking The Selection more than I originally thought I would, it has definitely increased my eagerness to get my hands on the next book in the trilogy!
