"I'd never given much thought to how I would die - though id had
reason enough in the last few months- but even if I had, I would
not have imagined it like this."
I recently finished Twilight, a novel by Stephanie Meyer, in a
matter of a week. Recommended to me by my cousin, I was hesitant to
begin reading a book about vampires and supernatural things, since
I'm more of a person to read Gossip Girl or some other teenage
drama. The thick, 500 page book written by a new author seemed like
an overload, but after reading the first chapter, I was hooked.
The setting takes place in Forks, where Isabella (Bella) Swan moves
to live with her father. She mourns the loss of the heat and sunny
skies of Phoenix, but figures she can survive the rain and clouds.
Starting fresh at a new high school, she meets many new friends,
despite the fact of her clumsiness and ordinary girl appeal. During
her first few days at school, she notices a group of very
attractive kids sitting alone at their own table. She finds out
that they are the Cullen's, and that they don't associate with
anyone else. She then finds herself seated in Biology with Edward
Cullen, a gorgeous member of the Cullen clan. His strange behaviour
around Bella makes her insecure, since one day he is very friendly,
and the other he cant even go near her. Edward begins to show up
miraculously to save Bella from hazardous situations, and the two
end up falling into a relationship, one that could be potentially
deadly - since Edward is a vampire.
Twilight is an amazing book, with a very unique plot. The
characters completely captivated me, and I could picture the
setting of Forks in my head. This novel had suspense around every
corner, with a romance that morphs into a terrifying race to stay
alive. This book appeals to a female audience, no matter what age.
This book is timeless, and you will find yourself engrossed in this
page turner. Twilight is the first book of a trilogy, with second
and third books New Moon and Eclipse. I rate this book 5/5, for its
ability to keep me hooked until the very end.
