We had to extract our 2 youngest from a nasty situation in their school. We started homeschooling. I was so lost! I know I had to register with a board, but beyond that...where to go? Homeschool has many many philosophies, I had to find out where to fit in. I don't fit into 'unschooling' I know my kids, we'd learn nothing, not Waldorf, not Charlotte Mason. I felt it was school at home, and I didn't want to do that. A fellow homeschooler recommended this book to me. I signed it out of the library. It is Classical Education, it is based on the Trivium, 3 stages of learning, grammar, logic and rhetoric And it suits us soooo well. I have one in each of the two stages. They are learning the same content in many subject. The youngest the basic facts, the older more in depth and a little theory to answer the why.

Within a very short time, my kids were learning and learning WELL. We are still babies in terms of homeschooling, but in the short time the kids have been home, they have learned so much, covered things that should have been but never were in the school system. Well Trained Minds even has lists of quality curricula , books and resources. A must read for homeschoolers.

They authors also have a forum. www.welltrainedmind.com lots of fantastic support there!
