    Great Novel and Movie

    I recently watched the Whale Rider movie and it inspired me to purchase the novel. It was fantastic! Each was very true to the other. This will be a definate read aloud for my classroom this year and I'm certain they will love the movie. The perspective of the novel is great.

    More than just the basis of a great movie, this book is a poignant glimpse into a widely overlooked culture. The characters are very complex and although brief, this book makes for a refreshing read.
