Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker-his classmate and crush-who committed suicide two weeks earlier.

On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.

Through Hannah and Clay's dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.

I was impressed. The writing style was really ambitious. An author can run the risk of completely losing touch with the reader but it was well done with the main character interjecting while listening to the words coming trough on the tapes. It provides comic relief which is very important when dealing with a topic such as this but it also provides insight to the character himself. a very well done, well written book and you have to read it at least once.

I really enjoyed readying this book. It made me realize that life goes by to fast. This girl made 13 tapes and sent it to 13 people before she passed away. There could be many people today going through the same thing that she did. I recommend you read this book :)
