Hannah Baker. Everybody knows her because she committed suicide. Everyone thought it was over, but not for Clay and 12 others persons. Each of them received a mysterious box with 13 stories on cassettes. It was Hannah's voice in those, and they were the reason why she killed herself.
This book is absolutely amazing. We can feel the pain that Hannah as been through and of course of Clay, who is listening to those tapes. Each chapter is a new story, and each tape they grow up in intensity. We could understand why Hannah had done it, even thought it's never the right solution. I loved this book because I could relate to it in some of those stories. This book is so heart wrenching because I still hoped that Hannah had not committed suicide, that she was still here, trying to survive.

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book but fortunately I finally did. Now, I couldn't be more grateful to have such a meaningful and inspiring read, yet devastating at the same time. I really love Jay Asher's second novel co-written with Carolyn Mackler The Future of Us. Yet, it is Thirteen Reasons Why that absolutely touched me and placed Jay Asher among my favorite YA authors!

It is incredible how you can find so much in one novel. Thirteen Reasons Why is a powerful read and it makes you reflect about the way you treat others. Sometimes, just one little thing can be a great weight in other people's shoulders. Also, this book highlights the fact that we never really know or understand what's going on in other people's life. Thirteen Reasons Why is not just a devastating story about a girl who commits suicide; A girl that leaves a box with voice recorded cassettes to thirteen people explaining how each one of them is one of the Thirteen Reasons Why she ended her life. This book goes so much deeper than that and regardless its heavy and dark theme, it brights with hope at the end of it. Thirteen Reasons Why is a novel that highly inspires people to become a better person.

Clay is certainly one of my most beloved characters. He is one of the thirteen people in Hanna's cassettes and we listen to Hanna's story through Clay's ears. He is such a unique boy and it is heartbreaking to listen to Hanna's voice through his perspective. In the other hand, Hanna is one of the most particular character I have come across. I had a storm of emotions through every cassette Hanna recorded. Sometimes, it was hard to accept and believe some of the things she said, and sometimes I was absolutely sympathetic towards Hanna. At the end, same as Clay, I get to know Hanna and feel for her and for everything she went through. From the loveliest moment to the most tormenting and unfair experience she went through that lead her to commit the horrific act of ending her own life.

Thirteen Reasons Why is a devastating story about bullying, lack of support, loneliness and many other things that can lead to depression to teens and adults alike. "Everything affects everything" as Hanna said, when you are dealing with this psychological problem that unfortunately many people suffers everyday.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher is a book we can learn a lot from. This book inspires us to become a better a person, to be more understandable and supportive, to care about people without holding back because there is people that really needs you by their side. Thirteen Reasons Why is a novel that says it Loud and Clear; Don't wait for those people who need you by their side to ask for your help, they might never do it, and then it could be too late. So, take the first step by yourself and offer your support, don't hold back.

This was an excellent book. I finished it in two days. Jay Asher did a wonderful job at portraying the horrible things we all do to each other and the tragic consequences they can have. My best friend went out and bought her own copy because it was just THAT good.

Clay had a crush on a girl at school, Hannah, who has recently committed suicide. When he receives a shoebox of cassette tapes in the mail, he starts to listen to her tell her story - all the reasons leading up to her suicide. There are thirteen people on the tapes, all of whom are to listen to the tapes, to find out how they contributed to her decision to end her life.

Wow! This was really good. Very powerful, I thought. You don't realize how some things you do or say, things you may think are little, or even things you don't do, can impact someone so drastically. I listened on audio, which I think was very fitting for this particular book. It was done very well, with two different people reading - one, reading for Hannah as she speaks through her tapes, and one, reading for Clay, providing his own commentary as he listens. An extra 1/4 star for the audio. Very very good.
