Definitely for teen readers, however, nearing the end of the book it got more appealing to me as an adult. The next few books would get a little more interesting. My favorite of them being, Eclipse. Not for the romance part of it...the action was exciting to read about.
The first movie was missing so many key points of the story line that unless you had not read the first book, you miss the point of the story in some sense.
If you hang in there, (ignoring the unnecessary boring ramblings at times), the books get better. The last book had many unnecessary parts in it that could have definately been left out (whoever her editor is, they should be fired), I can see why the movie had condensed the story. Everyone told me the novels were far better than the movie so I was curious, so for this particular novel, the book was actually better than the movie, but as for new moon...the movie is definately better. Eclipse looks to be exciting. We'll see. I'd love to see another novel to follow breaking dawn and have them annihilate the vulturi. That would be great to see.
