Betsy's got a lot on her plate these days. She's the manager of vampire night club Scratch, but the vampire employees are being as ill-natured and uncooperative as possible, and vampires aren't known for helpfulness to begin with! On top of that, Betsy finds out that her currently pregnant stepmonster was possessed by Satan many years ago and had a baby during that time. Basically, Betsy has a long lost half-sister who is the Spawn of Satan. It has also been prophesized that Betsy and her Spawn of Satan sister are to rule the world.

There is a lot going on in Undead and Unappreciated, and all of it is delightfully funny and completely engrossing. The book starts off with two hilarious prologues that had me laughing, and this trend continues throughout the book. The plot moves quickly because the book isn't long, but it didn't feel rushed. A lot was covered in the third installment of the series including a very interesting subplot with a fiend.

Davidson has such a light, fun attitude towards her characters. At one point Betsy isn't feeling herself and we see a whole new angle to her personality. I'm not saying Betsy matured or grew because she's still superficial and vain as always, but it was nice to change it up a little. Even the new angle to Betsy was comical. Betsy had some very interesting revelations during the course of the novel that will impact the plot of future novels in the series, which leaves me eager for the next novel.

The introduction of a new character, Betsy's half-sister, added some excitement and new possibilities to the story. The secondary characters, particularly Sinclair, were just as enjoyable as Betsy herself and I was left wanting more of their antics too.

If you've enjoyed the first two books in the series, Undead and Unappreciated is a must read!

J Bug -- Thanks. This is a fun series. shane -- You're welcome. I'd start with the first book in the series. It's all tied in together and you'd get way more out of the series by reading it in the correct order. The first book is Undead and Unwed and the second book is Undead and Unemployed.

Thanks for the review, I will add to my list. Should I start with the first two books in the series or is this a series that you can start with any book and not be too lost?

Another Queen Betsy book that you can't put down. This book reads so fast, and I was still craving more when I finished it. This series of books is one of the best vampire stories I have ever had the privilege of reading. I cannot wait for to get the next book in the series, and I have only one negative about this book and that is that it is too short. Betsy is one of the best characters ever put on paper.

This is the third book of the Queen Betsy series. A new spin is put on the tale when Betsy becomes evil… for a while.

Some new characters are introduced, friendships are made, and lost, and Betsy has an epiphany. That is about the extent of this book.
I did like the introduction of the devil (especially in reference to Lena Olin, who is super awesome) and I can't wait to see where the series heads.

Unfortunately, this is my least favourite in the series so far. There was something lacking. The humour and wit was still there but perhaps it was written slightly different? It was more obnoxious than clever.

Okay, so there are about a billion vampire tales and types floating around the universe, but Mary Davidson takes the old and boring and sends it in for and overhaul. Her characters are original and sweetly flawed, the heroine being someone who doesn't really want the part but has fallen less than gracefully into it. Her hero can seem like an ass sometimes, but he's endearing in his sweet moments. I haven't read the latest (Undead and Unappreciated) but I plan on buying it as soon as I can get to the store. If you want a book you can curl up with, have a good laugh, and become totally engrossed in a different world... pick up a book in Davidson's Undead series.
