    Not the tv show

If you watched the show before you read the books, like I did you may find yourself not liking it. I love the show but am not that fond of the books this one in particular. The book was slow moving and honestly I don't even want to start the 4th one.

In The Fury (the 3rd book in The Vampire Diaries), odd things are happening around town. Stefan, Damon and Elena call it the "Other Power" that is causing it, but they don't know what that Other Power is. They are trying to figure it out and stop it before people get hurt.

This one was pretty much action, start to finish, but somehow for me, things almost went too quickly, and I can't even explain why I didn't like that things went as quickly as they did; normally, past-paced appeals to me. Some people's secrets are revealed, and there is a bit of a surprise at the end of The Fury.

Dark Reunion (The Vampire Diaries, book 4) is told primarily from Bonnie's viewpoint. When someone in their group of friends in murdered, they have to find out who did it/what happened and stop it before someone else gets hurt.

I thought Dark Reunion was different from the other books and I liked the change, although I thought the end was unrealistic (yes, I know it's all supernatural, and therefore all unrealistic, but for the tone of the books, I just didn't think the ending fit).

Because of the tv show, some of the things that might have been a surprise weren't, but because there are also so many things different from the tv show, there were still some surprises. I actually wish I had known about these books when they were first published in the early 90s. I'm sure I would have liked them even more back then.

    What happened?

Something in the series has changed. The first two books were great but something has happened in the writing for the third and fourth. Maybe its just something that I am noticing now but things don't always add up. There are things that should be further explained and are not. The story line randomly changes and we are not given a heads up. I'm going to continue the series because its a series and is apparently very popular.

Brutally. Awful so boring, i had to force myself to read it because i wasted money on it, don't waste your time on your money. Although i know these books were written in 1991 so maybe they were great back then....but I can honestly say i am not a fan of these books.

I actually decided not to read this series after I saw the TV show. Too much DRA-MA, and not enough vampires to save it. Besides, this series really didn't sell well back in 1991, and was out of print for several years before a certain Mormon woman re-invented the teen vamp genre.
