Within the Frame is, without a doubt, the best book on photography
I've ever read. At no point does the author, David duChemin,
attempt to spoon feed any quick fixes or 3-step solutions. Instead,
he offers a thoughtful and in-depth insight into not just his
photographic process, but his creative and emotional mind.
It's indisputable that we live in a fast-paced world. Our brains
have become well-trained at filtering out useless talk and white
noise. Unfortunately, this makes it all too easy for us to "miss" a
photo. Sure, we can point the lens and capture what we're looking
at, but unless we "see" the scene (and the emotion or symbolism it
contains), we're wasting our time.
In his book, David teaches you to "see".
I could go on and on in this review discussing the book's merits,
but my words simply would not speak highly enough of this book. It
is, without doubt, a book that should be on every photographer's
bookshelf. From amateur to professional, novice to veteran, you
should own this book if you have even the slightest interest in
photography. Your images will thank you for it.
