Witness to a City: David Miller's Toronto

by David Miller, Douglas Arrowsmith
Photographed by: Jeff Davidson

CORMORANT BOOKS | June 3, 2010 | Trade Paperback

Since becoming mayor of Toronto in 2003, David Miller has met thousands of citizens from all walks of life. He has heard remarkable stories of how many of the people in Toronto have come together to overcome loss and hardship, discover their own power, and act for the greater public good. Witness to a City contains some of the most inspirational and powerful of these stories to articulate his vision of Toronto: a twenty-first century city that shows the world how different cultures can live, work, and dream together as one community.

    This Mayor Can Write

I thoroughly enjoyed David Miller's memoir-style writing. He's open about who he is emotionally (unusual for a politician!), and he shows a love for Toronto that shines through in each segment of this original page-turner of a book.

I wasn't a fan of his left wing politics when he was mayor of Toronto, but I think this man is a genuine altruist, and I am a fan of David Miller's going forward.

I will devour anything else he decides to write. Maybe something about green cities?
