I found out about this book while being pregnant with my first child, seven years ago. Many women believe that breastfeeding is natural. We all hope that following the birth the baby will latch on and everything will be just great. That's not the reality many woman face. I had lots of problems breastfeeding my son in the first six weeks of his life. THE WOMANLY ART OF BREASTFEEDING helped me to persevere, and to develop a great breastfeeding relationship with my child. It provided me with a lot of advice on the proper latch, breast infections, and how to take care of myself. In addition to this great information, I learned how important breastfeeding was to my two children. I've read this book at least 4 times from cover to cover. It has been one of my most important reference books in the last 7 years as I breastfed my son, and then my daughter. Now my sister is pregnant, and guess what she's getting as part of her congratulations gift from my family. Of course, it is THE WOMANLY ART OF BREASTFEEDING!

The best book ever. Every woman should read this book if they plan on breastfeeding. It helped me sooooo much be prepared for two VERY successful nursing experiences. It gave me a lot of confidence, I recommend it to all my pregnant friends. Funny thing is that the ones that didn't read it, ended up with cracked nipples, latching on problems....etc....coincidence? Not sure..Read it!

This book is full of information that will support any new Mom breastfeeding her baby. I have found this book a valuable resource with both my babies. Friends have really appreciated this as a gift when a new baby arrives. Excellent resource!

    Too Preachy !

I was hoping for more practical information on BF. Instead, I had to wade through incessant preaching about 'breast being best' and deal with the pushing of a particular parenting style(not sure of the correct name, but its *very* attachment focussed) just to get to some basic info...

I'm returning this book tomorrow! I'm sure the practical stuff is in there, but the preaching is so loud its distracting!
