Wreck This Journal

by Keri Smith

Penguin Group USA, Inc | June 1, 2007 | Trade Paperback

For anyone who''s ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.

This journal has suggestions on each page. It is a great stress busted. I bought it for my teenager but I also find it fun and interesting. There are things to do that I was never allowed todo before to a book but it's allowed in this journal.

    Break Your Boundaries

This journal is a great way to break out of any perfectionist habits that are stopping you from being creative. Great for bad days, good days, for doing alone or with your friends - photograph the process! You'll never look at sketchbooks the same way again!

Every page is filled with a crazy, out of the box idea. It brings the reader back to feeling like a child again. This book gets your creativity running...Painting with your tongue, wearing the book as a piece of clothing. Yes, at times people around me thought I was losing it. But that is the beauty of this book.

    Great Keepsake

I am a middle school librarian that, because of school closures, will be leaving my school to go to a differant one next year. I bought a "Wreck this Journal" and have allowed alot of the students here to pick a page, do what it says, and then sign it for me. Not only do I get to keep the fun memories but they got to have fun doing it. I highly recommend this book for any teenager in your life. I will be buying a few more to give away as gifts before the end of the school year.
