You Suck: A Love Story

by Christopher Moore

HARPERCOLLINS PUBLISHERS | January 3, 2008 | Trade Paperback

Being undead sucks. Literally.

Just ask C. Thomas Flood. Waking up after a fantastic night unlike anything he''s ever experienced, he discovers that his girlfriend, Jody, is a vampire. And surprise! Now he''s one, too. For some couples, the whole biting-and-blood thing would have been a deal breaker. But Tommy and Jody are in love, and they vow to work through their issues.

But word has it that the vampire who initially nibbled on Jody wasn''t supposed to be recruiting. Even worse, Tommy''s erstwhile turkey-bowling pals are out to get him, at the urging of a blue-dyed Las Vegas call girl named (duh) Blue.

And that really sucks.

    You Suck / Christopher Moore
    3.5 stars

*****SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES*****
Jody has just turned her boyfriend Tommy into a vampire. They have managed to encase the ancient vampire who made her, Elijah, in bronze. Jody and Tommy had promised the cops that they would leave town, but they don't want to... plus they need a minion to help them in the daytime.
    *****END SPOILERS*****

Another fun, humourous book by Moore, though not my favourite (those would be Lamb and A Dirty Job). I actually found their little minion, Abby, kind of annoying. But, I loved the small scene in the book that was also a scene in A Dirty Job - just from Jody's point of view instead of Charlie's (the main character in A Dirty Job). I thought that was very cleverly done. Overall, I enjoyed it and will continue the series.

I have to start off by saying that I love Christopher Moore. This book was quite funny and I just couldn't put it down. It's even better than Bloodsucking Fiends.

I was excited to read this Chris Moore's book... After the first few chapters, I kept asking myself where the story was going. I'm glad I bought this book at a discount because it would not have been worth the full price.
