This was actually a lot better than I was expecting. I've never been a big fan of the 007 movies, and I've never read the books, but I'm always intrigued by origin stories, thus I picked this one up. Definitely a good novel for boys, probably 9 to 16 would be the most intrigued.

Set in 1933, the plot involves Bond enrolling at Eton, and during a break heading to Scotland to visit his remaining family. There he becomes embroiled in a mystery involving a missing teenage fisher, Lord Hellebore (the father of James' worst enemy at Eton) and the legend of Silverfin.

I have no idea how accurate to the Bond cannon these books are, but this one at least, was highly enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
