Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Read! This is the first book that I've read by Josh Kilmer-Purcell, and incidentally, his first foray into fiction. I found this book intensely satisfying, like curling up with a good book and a bowl of ice-cream, because the characters were so well developed. We have the teenage Jayson, who craves fame and will stop at nothing to get it. We have Jayson's mother, who appears at first glance to be an unfit parent, but by the end we realize that she loves her sons deeply and would give up everything to make them happy. We have Trey and Tara, the twins with the overprotective, neurotic mother who are intent on following their own paths. Add in a couple of plot twists, more unbelievable secondary characters, and a novel is born! I loved this book and would reccommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a good summer read. Highly entertaining, yet thought-provoking in its own way!

Editorial Reviews

"Josh Kilmer-Purcell is funny funny funny, one of the funniest young writers in America. In Candy Everybody Wants, he trains his insightfully sardonic eye on the world of 80?s pop culture, showing the roots that made us a nation of Britneys, American Idols, and Obamamaniacs." (James Frey, author of Bright Shiny Morning)
